You too mate. Good to see you again. Agreed, can never accuse Rats of not giving it everything when they perform. Girl behind made me laugh as she was trying to get a photo and ended up shouting 'Geldof, will you ****ing stand still for one moment!'.

For those who like to know this sort of thing, was pretty much same set at Wellowfest and Brentwood, the only variation being Looking After No 1 dropped at Wellowfest but back as part of 2 song encore last night. Finished with The Boomtown Rats at both  - whether you love it or hate it, it gets crowd going every time.

Also, for those who like to know this sort of thing, heard last night in conversation that band is definitely actively writing new material and intends to hit studio before too long. Something to look forward to.

Amazing indeed.Just when I had basically given up on the band ever sitting down to try to write a proper new album. If the new songs can match the live effort we hopefully will not be disappointed. The Boomtown Rats has become an 'old song', even though it's only about three years old.Perhaps one or two new songs will be tried out live just to see how the crowd react. I'd like to think that if a song is really good you get a sense of that when you hear it for the first time in a live setting.

They can only give it their best shot, and in the past that has always worked.smile

Thats good news indeed , a little bit of new material spoon fed initially to gauge the reception would be great, though for live shows i think they only need to chuck in Joey, maybe Howard Hughes and a b side or 2 and i think even the most hard to please would be happy.

I got a message from Ron stating that he decided not to come due to Bobs recent antics re brexit plus the fact he thought that the set needs changing once in a while.... His loss

No word on dates for recording or of a subsequent tour, but would seem sensible to promote anything new so can but hope.

And re: Ron not coming, I guess it's just necessary to treat the music and everything else as two different things. I'm sure there are dozens of artists out there I like but am ideologically opposed to. Fair point on the set though; hopefully above will rectify that concern.

Someone let that slip at Wellowfest that they have been in a studio.  I didn't know whether to believe it or not.
