OK, it's decision time. BTR has revamped the rats website and integrated a forum into it. He has asked us if we want to be part of this going forward.
I would still moderate along with BTR; Scottie has decided not to going forward.
The question is do you want to move to the new forum, which will require re-registering or just stay put.
A simple majority will win the vote.
Should the decision be to stay with this forum, nothing will change. If the decision is made to close this forum, then I will set the forum to read only throughout and provide a link to the new forum. Nothing will be lost from this forum, and you can still commuincate through PMs with your buddies.
You decide!
(feel free to ask questions and comment before casting your vote, the poll will be open for one month from now)
Factors that may influence your decision....
i) 50% of the traffic to this forum comes via boomtownrats.co.uk. This has effectively ceased with the new forum, so less visitors.
ii) It is better to have one forum rather than many. This forum is here mainly because the "competition" just died away.
iii) The association with boomtownrats.co.uk will not exclude those who just want to talk Geldof, Live Aid or even Jiggerypipery.
I just want to clarify I don't want to moderate on the new forum, but am quite happy to join it. In fact I have already. Numbers here have about halved since the link was lost from the website. I dont know how people will find us now. I dont think we have an option, even though I am not a Rats person.
Ah, sorry about that, but the poll is closed. I should have closed the threads.
But before I do, some points of interest.....
i) 50% of the traffic to this forum comes via boomtownrats.co.uk. This has effectively ceased with the new forum, so less visitors.
The numbers visiting have been affected but not by that much. People have come back via google, my blog or directly.
ii) It is better to have one forum rather than many. This forum is here mainly because the "competition" just died away.
I still believe this. Right now, no one has migrated across to the forum. I suspect that when the Rats play their new year dates the other forum will come alive.
iii) The association with boomtownrats.co.uk will not exclude those who just want to talk Geldof, Live Aid or even Jiggerypipery.
Again the legacy of this forum having originated from Geldof's site means there are more people who are interested in Geldof rather than the Rats which isn't the case in the new forum.
Right now, this forum is still open and thriving, so it will remain.
