some time ago I went to the cinema to watch a move called "That Summer" or something like that,There where some tracks of the Rats along whit the Police, don't remember the tracks but I am sure they where from the first album.
... but the soundtrack ROCKS! Basically a snap shot of the best of British and American power pop and poppy punk, circa 1978: the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks," Patti Smith's "Before the Night," Elvis Costello's "Chelsea," Richard Hell and the Voidoids' "Blank Generation," the Boomtown Rats' "She's So Modern" and "Kicks," Wreckless Eric's "Whole Wide World," the Only Ones' "Another Girl, Another Planet," Zones' "New Life," the Ramones' "Rockaway Beach"....it's perfectly sequenced and keeps up from start to finish.
Unfortunately, the album's long out of print and the movie just isn't available on VHS or DVD anywhere as far as I can tell.
14 years later, the movie is available on You Tube quite readily. Stars Ray Winstone (probably his first ever movie) the Rats are featured with Kicks and She's so Modern in background. Not much of a plot, it's still a reasonably enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes or so and interesting to see how things were in the late 70s in the south west. Ray met his wife on location shooting this film.
