As many of you might know, an online vote is being held by the local authority in London to find a name for the footbridge into the new Wembley Stadium. The organisers are looking for names which are synonymous with the stadium. Obviously, footballers spring to mind immediately but nobody seems to have thought of Bob so I've proposed his name and voted for him with all my e-mail addresses.
The Vote closes on the 15th March so there's still time. Tell all your e-mail friends so that the great man will be forever a part of the stadium. Fitting too that it'll be the 20th Anniversary this Summer.
You have to give your e-mail address, suggestion for the name of the bridge and a reason.
I suggested "The Bob Geldof Bridge"(Plain and Simple) and gave the reason as :"for his organisation of the biggest Live TV event ever held at the Stadium and for his humanitarian efforts to alleviate starvation in Africa".You might be able to come up with something a little more concise!
Not only would it put a stop to the current childish campaign to have it named after Jim Baxter (which has more to do with one-upmanship than any real merit), but it will remind everyone of Wembley's REAL finest moment, when it was the centrepiece of events in 1985 that saved millions of lives.
It's got my vote. And I'll see if I can get the Wee Free, the Waterboys & Toy Dolls websites to help out

Now I wanted to know more... "Live Aid Bridge" was one of the finalists. Doesn't say about Dietmar Hamann though...

Billy the White Horse wins vote to name Wembley footbridge
Billy the White Horse has won the vote to name the London Development Agency’s new bridge at Wembley.
The LDA teamed up with BBC Radio Five Live to name the state-of-the-art footbridge, which will help to connect the new national stadium to the town centre, and The White Horse took just over a third of the 36,500 votes on the Five Live site. Sir Alf Ramsey was close behind on just under a third, while the three other finalists – Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst and Live Aid – each took about 4,000 votes.
The White Horse’s campaign was boosted by the Back Billy’s Bid campaign, which called for an end to ‘the 82-year-old snub to Wembley’s first hero’.
When 100,000 fans stormed the pitch at the first cup final in 1923, Billy – ridden by PC George Scorey – rode in to save the day, calming the crowds, clearing the pitch, averting potential disaster and allowing the game between Bolton and West Ham to begin.
It became an icon for the FA Cup, an icon of English football, and an icon of the greatness of Wembley Stadium.
