What a wonderful, if badly translated review of Cuneo
Bob Geldof celebrates the memory and enchants the Toselli
It 'was a beautiful concert. So much so that everyone in the end, the gave her a standing ovation. He, Bob Geldof, guest of honor of the 'Concert of Remembrance', which took place yesterday evening at the theater Toselli, was capable of relaxation to the public.. Great credit must be given to Corrado Buffa, artistic director of the event.A difficult challenge, to bring to Cuneo, in the far, snowy north west, a little-known artist, perhaps, to the general public. Known more for having interpreted the part of the protagonist in the famous film 'The wall' by Alan Parker (1982), known for having organized in 1985 with Midge Ure, the now legendary Live Aid, a rock concert held in aid of 1985 simultaneously in London and Philadelphia, attended the first time in the history of music, the more personalities from the worlds of music and entertainment, Bob Geldof, it must be said, is also a musician of the highest.
. The evening, which was attended many authorities and associations linked to the resistance, was introduced by Mayor Alberto Valmaggia and Don Aldo Benevello.. He recalled the great tragedy consumatasi against hundreds of thousands of men and stressed the absolute need not to forget.Touching words, which was followed by a screening of the short memorial concert of 2005, which had seen the compianta Miriam Makeba perform on the stage of Toselli. Before Geldof, has enchanted the public with the soprano Angela Spotorno, accompanied by his sister Irene keyboard.he Spotorno, which boasts collaborations with Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras, has performed in a song and a piece of the nomads' The song of the child in the wind (Auschwitz) ', written by and Nomadi Guccini.
. Highlight the performance of Bob Geldof, accompanied by a great band.. Geldof spoke of genocide, emphasized how Europe has been the 'mother' of the most terrible planned extermination of human history, has underlined its commitment and the need to keep the attention on these events. He kicked off the concert because "you have to sing for all those who have died," he said. From that moment, for nearly two hours, there was only him. Histrionic and elegant, the Irish singer gave birth to a real show, full of energy and beauty.Equipped with a physicist by stilts, Geldof has enchanted with its extraordinary movements actor. Music, his, which combines the sounds even Celtic rhythms country, folk and rock. In short, a real spectacle.. Despite the difficulties of language, Bob Geldof came to the heart and 'belly' of all, by unleashing the present, especially in the final. The feeling was that of a young sixty that he enjoys playing (his hands can fly on the guitar) and, especially, has something to say to people of all ages, reflecting the fact that art, when they know to be vehicle of humanity, it is true beauty.
That really reminds me of what I've been missing, by not having been to a gig for 2 years and 2 months. Bob HAS to do something that I can go to this year. Essential.
Every concert on his website is TBC. No mention of Nairobi there. I'd love to see Bob perform there as one of my friends is just back from a holiday in Kenya & Uganda & gave me great reviews of the nightlife in Nairobi. However my funds won't stretch past Ireland so I wish Bob would do a gig here.

You know these tv programmes "An Audience With....... " They have different celebrities answering questions from an invited audience. I have always thought Bob would be a good subject for one of those. Bob could talk and sing to his heart's content. Good vehicle for his new album. Of course we would have to be in the invited audience!
I was in Genk yesterday for the free Genk On Stage festival. The band were only allowed one hour, so Bob cut all his speeches and a few of the songs from the regular set. Apart from not doing a soundcheck, there were more challenges like Niall not being there and Mark Hewins replacing Johnny on the guitar. Considering all of this, it was a brilliant gig!
