My opinion is the exact opposite. Of all The Rats albums this is the one I like less and less every time I hear it. It sounds over produced, trite and dated. Mondays and Someone's Looking aside, I don't really care much for any of the tracks. I remember liking it a lot when I first heard it, but as time goes on I have grown weary of the faux reggae drum beats, swirling keyboards, the bop shoo wops and the na na nas. I wouldn't say I hate it now, but I don't think time has been kind to it.

Songs like Wind Chill and When the Night have grown on me and musically and lyrically the whole album is up to date to me. The surveillance state, the US shootings that won't stop, the hypocrisy of religion, the mundane, sex and sleep.

Tonic dates in parts with 'she's so 1970s' and 'computer dating' and although a superb album, TFAOS review here is spot on for me.

Agreed, that version of 'Nothing Happened Today' is excellent; it's simply a storming version and gives an idea of just how magical and vibrant a live act they were.

The album itself I rate extremely highly, honestly the more I hear it the more I love it - possibly my favourite of them all. Lyrically, musically, atmospherically, 'tis a winner! A band that's mostly been forgotten by the mainstream except for two signature tracks, yet they made stellar music and those albums still stand head to head with the best of what's made today.

Agree 100% on this. A very confident sounding band on this album.

I rate ITLG better than FAOS.Mondays,Someone´s Looking and WindChill stand out for me but to much keyboards and na na na ohh ohhs.It is 4th favourite of all the albums.

Wasn't Computadata ahead of it's time for 1978-at least 20 years before the Internet computer dating 'revolution'?

I would say Bob was 20 years OUT OF DATE. He was surely talking of the computers that began this kind of lark in the 1960s - not personal computers but huge central machines that crunched the numbers on people's personalities to throw up intimate matches. As you will be aware, it involved no internet and so no visuals. People posted forms (good old fashioned Royal Mail) and waited patiently for weeks on end as companies processed their replies on intelligence, attractiveness and preferences. No same day hook ups and instant gratification.

Got to agree though, the album is epic.

IMHO there is nothing worse than 'business speak'.It really irritates me. I think to English language is gradually getting more childish every day. Any what's this with everyone on the radio/tv starting sentences with the word 'so..'. 5 Live had an item on this a few days ago.

Also hate the word medal being used as a verb, as in recent Olympic Games. Don't meddle with the English language, and try reading a bit more-that should sort out most people's vocabulary.

Now when I hear the word cloud I think of vast computer storage instead of the little fluffy things in the sky. Don't get me started on technology taking over our lives...I always refer to people walking down the street staring at phones as digital zombies. The tech companies have most people by the short and curlies. Orwell never dreamed of this but that's the law of unintended consequences.
