Apparently 'Is That It?' is going to be republished as an 'updated' version later this year. I'm not sure what they mean by updated, whether anything new will be added? But if you haven't managed to get hold of it before, here will be your chance!
very exciting...hope it´s updated, but hasn´t Bob said in various interviews that he wouldn´t ever update it? anyway, great chance for all of those who didn´t get it then! :)
Maybe they have offered a lot of ca$h for a new version! I would have thought a brand new book on the last twenty years would be justified. There is probably a more interesting story post-Band Aid.
How interesting! yeah there's definitely a lot more that could be added from where the book left off.
johanna, yes, he has said in interviews that he'd never write another / updated autobio about himself. forget where I saw it but it's out there somewhere... his reason being that the press pretty much exposed every part of the Paula/Yeates/Geldof fiasco to the public and ther's nothing really new to reveal there. But I'd love to read about his solo album development and experiences, before all that crap happened.
also , his Sex Age and Death CD is pretty much his way already of sharing that whole part of his life. Is text really needed for this when we already have his whole 'putting a shape to the experience' out for us all to hear? And I doubt he'd want to write it all out just b/c it'd be so painful to him.
but I also think he genuinely thinks a lot of his life just isn't that interesting to the public (though we all think otherwise ). to him, his life is his life, nothing more or less. especially regarding his whole political side - you never hear him start talking about africa w/o slipping in a 'this is so boring' or 'nobody wants to hear about this' in the discussion.
regardless - I'd love to read an updated version lol. What I'd mainly want to read about is his post-paula family life - raising his kids, his relationship with Jeanne, live concerts he's performed in, etc. We all think he is interesting despite what he thinks!

I'd like to read all about the break up, the custody battle and so on. And that's just concerning the Rats
I think Geldof's life is one of the most interesting stories of our times. Even if I had not been a big Rats fan, I'd still be fascinated by him, warts and all. I suspect that his life post-Live Aid will be documented. It'd probably better he does it himself, rather than let a hack tell his posthoumous story.
Considering the span of time & the events thereafter, would it not be better rather than an "update" to do a separate book entirely, called, say, "...Apparantly Not!", "More To Come...", "Outside The Long Grass", "Back for the Encore", "Filling The Hole" (after "Hole To Fill"), etc?
An updated version of "Is That It?" seems a bit cheap.
