Bob helps launch Anti-Poverty 'Click Ad'

Celebrities will today launch a new advert drawing attention to the plight of children who die because of extreme poverty.

The “click ad” brings together stars including Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Emma Thompson, Bob Geldof, and Bono. It shows them clicking their fingers one after another, with each click representing the death of a child.

Make Poverty History, which has produced the advert, said one child dies every three seconds from extreme poverty. Tonight it will be screened simultaneously just before 8pm on ITV, Channel 4, and Five, and a number of satellite and digital channels

Celebrities such as Geldof, Richard Curtis, Davina McCall, and Robin Gibb are expected to attend today’s launch in central London.

A spokesman for Make Poverty History said: “The click ad will be used on TV, radio and in print advertising globally over the course of the year. “The plan is to make ‘every gig a Live Aid’. To this end, musicians the world over will play the click ad on screens at their concerts around the world. The Make Poverty History click ad will motivate millions of people to join the global campaign.”
