Bob yesterday reveiled that Live Aid 2 (or what ever your tabloid calls it) is going to happen, no more detail have been annonced (date, location etc.) but he reveiled that midge ure and he are organising it to take place "close to the date of the G8", which you can pretty much bet on being the 2nd July @ Hyde Park London.
"An air of excitement was building early because U2 revealed backstage that it will perform at the just-confirmed 20th anniversary of Live Aid in London on July 2. ''We're looking forward to it. We definitely want to be a part of it," said bassist Adam Clayton, adding that the group has a show in Vienna that night, but would play earlier in the day."
"The pair (Bob Geldof and Midge Ure) collected their award from Sting, who sang on the original Band Aid record. The singer/songwriter revealed he will be taking part in the Live Aid follow-up. "Bob called me up and said I was doing it. He doesn't ask you, he tells you," he said."
soooo..... sounds like it may happen after all! YAY!!!!
I'm contemplating on going now - Have to make flight arrangements, there are probably 100,000 ppl there- I wont see much unless I camp out a day before in Hyde Park (in front of the stage, mind you - altho I might get arrested) hmmm decisions - decisions...might be wiser to watch it on the telly with popcorn!
C'mon Bob give us a head start and tell us before you go official...pleeeeeease (hypnotises Bob - in case he is reading ...Tellll ussss...informmmmm ussssss....oh mighty Bobby)
Booked flight and hotel today - coming from Switzerland I only heard the first rumours last Friday...
Do any of you know whether tickets are being given out by lottery or entry will be free after all?
I'll only be arriving Thursday night and I obviously can't take part in any lottery taking place only in the U.K. - camping in Hyde Park the night before sounds fun but we might end up in a slightly different place than planned
Can't wait to hear the official announcement tomorrow - any idea who covers Bob's confirmation live in the net (Internet TV or Radio stations)? I'll be trying this site and maybe Capital Radio for a start.
anyway - thanks in advance for any help you can give - see you all next month!
