Is Bob Geldof just a Nazi?

Maybe in "The Wall," but certainly not now.

Did you people honestly think that I was attributing Bob Geldof with the same Nazi Party that Pope Benedict XVI was formerly a part of?

I would have prefered to make no comment about this topic so as not to perpetuate this thread, but I am FRUSTRATED by it.

Why? Because I believe the word "Nazi" should never be used lightly.  To do so is to minimize all its abhorrent connotations.

And, no, Bob Geldof wasn't a Nazi in "The Wall"; he was playing a symbolic role which was the result of Roger Waters' imagination.

Am I being pedantic?  Some may think so.  But the image in "The Wall" was of two crossed hammers, not the swastika.

Of course Waters' fascist representation reminds us of Nazism, which is perhaps why it is so powerful.  But the two are not the same.

I think the current Pope would see this; after all, he was a non-Jewish boy in Hitler's Germany.  That he was a member of "Hitler's Youth" is not surprising; it must have been a better alternative than being disloyal, thereby endangering his family and friends, or getting shot.

To suppose a link between the Nazi principle of the supremacy of the 'Aryan race' and anything to do with Live 8 is ridiculous.

This isn't stuff to be flippant about - otherwise its deadly importance is diminished.

Why is the question even being asked?

ADMIN: I agree, the thread serves no purpose so let it be gone!
