Dodgy Live 8 ticket auctions - the people are fighting back!!!

I think that the Live 8 organisers should take heart at the response to Ebay auctions for LIve 8 tickets from the outraged public everywhere - silly bidding!

It seems that people are opening Ebay accounts and bidding 10,000+ on ticket auctions in an attempt to scupper such dubious sellers. Once such bids are made then any other reasonable bids can't be posted, as they are lower than the (silly) highest bid - the Ebay mechanism becomes the sellers worst enemy!

We can only assume that these accounts are bogus, but in any case the seller is also duty-bound to adhere to Ebay's rules regarding contacting the winning bidder and waiting a certain period before an offer can be made to a lower bidding Ebayer. This process in itself might take so long that the tickets become worthless.

The sellers of such tickets should also consider that they can't hide behind Ebay's protective anonymity policy once the auction is closed. The protest bidders can immediately acquire the sellers personal details - possibly using this info to contact Live 8 and their legal team, or possibly releasing such details to local press in a name-and-shame manner. Sellers beware!

This is just the sort of story that office email circulars are made of.....

I hope neither Bob, nor Comunists or new-Nazis or any other people bend on forcing their morality on others won't be able to control WWW.

Sadly it seems that Chinese goverment with the help of Microsoft does:
