The Band Aid/Live Aid/ Live 8 thread was no doubt started to allow those who wished to express their opinion on these subjects. Given that Live 8 was related to G8, it was obvious that some people would disagree with Bob Geldolf's "million" call to Edinburgh.

Now, I can understand the Administrators not wanting personal attacks at any forum members but stating FACTS about what was happening in Scotland and disagreeing with Bob should not automatically ban a person from the site [Argee's response that is closed so unable to respond there!].

Yes, there are no doubt websites for "I hate Bob" but as this is supposed to be "HIS" website, for "HIS" fans so some constructive criticism should be allowed (whether you think a song is great or the pits for example - would saying you hate "Rat Trap" automatically ban you from the site?!).

Bob isn't perfect (none of us are) and forum users should be allowed to express their views without totalitarian overseers!!

I await the banning order....

You have freedom of speech, but they have the freedom from posting anyone's ideas if they so choose.

ADMIN: I have had no cause to censor or remove any of your posts, and indeed when you have voiced opinions that are contary to those held by many board members, they received warnings for abusing you.

Sadly, there have been a few posts which have gone too far and have been personal attacks.  The odd user has been banned and many warned.  But worse still, I was informed that unless this ceased, the board would be pulled.

I have no problem whatsoever with the tone of your posts, and your contributions have been welcome.  Nothing wrong with disagreeing, it is the way it is done, and you pretty much get it right.

As for closing the original post, I did that because sticky posts are really only to make a statement, not to be debated.  I'm happy to debate here.

You will NOT be banned (well not for this or any other posts you have made).

Don't the administrators simply mean the ones with the bad language? I remember one.
