i'd like too add the its a soft target for the media to deal with what about the central and south American disaster’s caused by the USA , we hear about the Australian government not saying sorry for thing that may have happened 200(i am very well informed on that subject) or so years ago ,if the USA would face up to its responicable and at least attempt to apologias for its behavior there and in Vietnam and make good the damage it caused there

I don't think I've seen a proper estimate from any reliable source as to what (if any) profits were generated by the Live 8 concerts. I read in a broadsheet newspaper that the concerts were costing about £25 million to stage, and as the tickets were (apart from the "Gold Circle") free, this money was coming through the text ticket lottery (after the one and a half million had been forwarded to the Prince's Trust whose Hyde Park concert date was appropriated for the Live 8 London concert), merchandising and sponsorship.

I'm certain that any profits would be ploughed back into the Band Aid Trust or its counterparts in the other countries.

The intention of these Live 8 gigs was not to raise money however but to generate public support for the Make Poverty History campaign, and pressurize the G8 leaders to make the necessary promises to end extreme poverty in Africa.

But one of the end results seems to be an alarming jump in sales of records. Pink Floyd's The Wall have had their sales jump 3600% since Live 8. David Gilmour specifically said that he would donate his extra share to charity.

So if more money comes in and people are willing to donate, that's just more for Africa, more aid, more charity, and more love for humanity.

That's interesting about Pink Floyd sales and David Gilmour. I've not kept up with profit idea but would suspect no profits at all. Myself, I am going to get Best of Boomtown Rats cd and maybe more Rats, and look for Sir Bob's book (after Harry Potter mania settles down).

Let me point out exactly what I mean, from your own quotes:

"in Africa where have these people been under a rock "

would be better as, "In Africa? Where have these people been, under a rock?"

"are u referring to me or side show(sir) bob(geldoff) comment only tell'm as i see'em if geldoff did not proform was there a bomb threat the rest of them weren’t told about: (good come back i never saw that coming)"

would be better as, "Are you referring to me or the Side Show Bob (Sir Bob Geldof) comment? I only tell them as I see them. If Geldof did not perform, was there a bomb threat that the rest of them weren't told about? (By the way, good comeback. I never saw that coming.)" In this case, you should realize that it's spelled Geldof, he did perform - "I Don't Like Mondays" - and a bomb threat never happened. Be rational and logical, as well as resourceful and knowledgable.

"is the g8 realy the side show bob fan club"

would be better as, "Is the G8 really the Side Show Bob (Sir Bob Geldof) fan club?" I should also note that this joke makes no sense...at all...

"love is a many splendid thing ,if place proepley with all revenant information Y are these countries in debt, how , where has bob geldoff been if he only now has woken to that fact perhaps off parting with the Irish fairies, how where these countries put in debt for, not for trying too produce a sustainable e food industry, in canceling the debt the it had disabled a program where the government was given assistance to menage its cash flow so the money given was not spent on arms or siphoned off in to personnel accounts birds of a feather"

should be, "Money is a many splendid thing, if placed properly with all relevant information. Why are all of these countries in debt, and how? Where has Sir Bob Geldof been if he has only now woken up to the fact - perhaps off parting with the Irish fairies - how (impossible to understand), not for trying to produce a sustainable food industry...I have no clue...It had disabled a program where the government was given assistance to menage its cash flow, so the money given was not spent on arms, or siphoned off into personal accounts. Birds of a feather..." For the most part, you cannot understand your way of writing, points, and your argument makes no sense from lack of intelligence and lack of grammar.

"i'd like too add the its a soft target for the media to deal with what about the central and south American disaster’s caused by the USA , we hear about the Australian government not saying sorry for thing that may have happened 200(i am very well informed on that subject) or so years ago ,if the USA would face up to its responicable and at least attempt to apologias for its behavior there and in Vietnam and make good the damage it caused there

should be, "I'd like to add: it's a soft target for the media to deal with. What about the Central American and South American disasters caused by the United States of America? We hear about the Austrailian government not saying, "Sorry." for things that may have happened in 200(what year?), (I am very well informed on that subject). If the US would face up to its (don't know) and at least attempt to apologize for its behavior there and in Vietnam, and make good the damage it caused there..." I do not know how any of this is even remotely relevant. But again, almost impossible to make out some things.

"any one know how much revenue was generated by the live aid concert and advertising , and how much get too the people its aimed at?(tell me please), amd the last one caused more death than it prevented"

would be better as, "Does anybody know how much revenue was generated by the Live Aid concert and advertizing, and how much of it gets to the people it's aimed to help? Tell me please. The last one caused more death than it prevented." I think you meant Live 8 for your first reference, and explain your position on Live Aid's detrimental effects.

For the most part, this was written the way a child would talk. Your words are unintelligable. Your style is hard to grasp. Your views make no sense. Your facts are sometimes misguided or comepletely wrong.

I would ask Arrgee to ban this user.

Admin Note - Unfortunately for you, grammar skills or lack thereof is *not* a reason to get banned in this forum. However, personal attack *is*. And by the way, it's unintelligible, not unintelligable. - mj

Admin Note - That will be quite enough, from both of you. Either you debate without name calling, or you take it somewhere else.

ADMIN - The final word.  I have wound this thread back to this point and closed it off.

May I make two points for all to bear in mind in the future.

i) Punctuation and Grammar are essential for good communication.  It is recognised that not everyone has English as a first language, and there are those who have other difficulties; so we all have to make some allowance, but deliberate misuse and txt spk (sic) are not acceptable.  Write as well as you can.

ii) Abuse is not just name calling, and takes many forms.  I would advise that all posters bear in mind the impact their post has on the reader.
