Wonder if Bob knows about this? I'd be interested in seeing it?

GELDOF FEATURES IN ARTIST'S WORK

Poverty campaigner Sir Bob Geldof has inspired a north-east painter to turn to portraiture.

Monymusk mother-of-two Lyn Luck decided to paint the former front man of the Boomtown Rats after his latest appeals for aid to Africa.

And having worked hard to capture both the man and the intensity of his cause, she is now looking for an Aberdeenshire gallery to come forward with space to hang the metre-square oil painting.

"I was very pleased with the finished painting.

"I think it will make people pause and think of the issues, with Geldof so immediately identified and passionately involved in the issue."

She was originally going to take the work to Edinburgh while the G8 Summit was being held at Gleneagles and Sir Bob was calling for protesters to march on the Scottish capital.

But she decided it was too big to carry down on the train.

Ms Luck, originally from Kent, won an award from the Royal Academy in London when she was 15 and went on to gain a degree in fine art at Maidstone College of Art in 1973.

She staged her first exhibition the following year.

Since moving to Monymusk 14 years ago, she has regularly held exhibitions and tackled everything from sculpture to stage sets.

She has also carried out work for corporate clients, including the National Trust and Aberdeenshire Council, Reader's Digest and British Telecom.

She paints mostly in watercolour and has only recently begun to work with oils.

She is now determined to see her Geldof portrait exhibited and may even tackle some more celebrity portraits.

She said: "I do have a hankering to do a portrait of Billy Connolly, so who knows? There is so much to do now that my painting has taken a new direction."

hope it isn't realistic... always (well...for me anyway) more fun to see expressionist or abstract work....or,how about Geldof, action-painting style? maybe not...
