How often do you listen to the Rats?

In my case because I played the songs so frequently growing up when they came out that they're sort of lodged  in my head and I don't need to listen that often. I always find its good to 'rest' music and let it breathe. Sometimes I just play a single track by the Boomtown Rats as the mood suits me- like a good cigar ! (I dont smoke by the way) I find that any band I really like   eg XTC the songs are just in my head from previous exposure . I try to stay on the safe side of obsession!

When I was working in Dublin recently I listened to the first couple of albums a lot, much like I listened to Franz Ferdinand when I was in Glasgow.  Recently, I appear to have gone back to the sixties and am listening to The Beatles (thanks to constant playing  of Rock Band), The Velvet Underground, Hendrix and The Kinks.  But at this present moment, I'm back to listening to the greatest band ever.....  Pulp!

When I was young biggrin I used to wear out my Rats tape from over play..  Now we have MP3 players I put my music on shuffle and take whatever comes my way.  But you can guess how many Rats tracks I have on there wink

Arrgee - try going to Swindon and listen to Xtc or the Dukes of Stratosphere for their more psycadelic alter egos. Avoid the trading estates though! The Boomtown Rats and Pulp do have things in common. My point in the post was that overexposure to any band or thing in life can be not a good thing- the old line about familiarity breeding indifference or contempt is true.

I always think of XTC when I pass Stonehenge, though why I don't know.  I suppose it's to do with the Uffington White Horse and as near to Swindon as I've ever got.  Not too keen on Swindon really, nothing to recommend it.  Must be events in 1969 that put me off it.  Likewise Wrexham, Ipswich, Luton, York and Barcelona.

I like rural Wiltshire but Swindon is a but functional  and Andy Partridge is not its biggest fan- he wrote a nice little song called Red Brick Dream about Swindon also a song called  Newtown Animal about Swindon new town. I also love the west of England accent strangely or not. Love the litany of famous Arsenal cup defeats -which hurts the most?
