This one is for fun only so don't take it too seriously.
Does anybody see any blatant rip offs or plagiarism in any of the Rats songs. For me I cannot spot any so nothing springs to mind. I was wondering if anybody thinks x song by the Rats sounds a little like some other song.
Conversely is there any songs by other artists that sound like Rats rip offs. I haven't investigated Razorlight enough to know ,as the seem the band with the most obvious "devotion".
There is the obvious Small Faces bit on Room 19 which is borrowed from Sha La La Lee by Geldof on The Happy Club album.
Also on the anthology there is a song called Harvest Moon, a Geldof original nothing to do with Neil Young. This sounds a little like a John Prine song called Speed of the Sound of Loneliness, possibly made more famous by Nancy Griffith. The borrowings if any are light so its nothing to worry about!
Under Their Thumb springs to mind immediately. Even recall interviews at the time where Geldof said he was required to acknowledge the Stones on the writing credit as song was sufficiently similar.

There is a certain similarity but has never been too obvious to me but if both songs contain the words under and thumb, and Geldof was a Stones fan I'll concede that one.
A few years ago I heard a guitar riff that sounded like Shes So Modern on some classic rock tv show but I didn't get to hear who it was by. and haven't heard that song again- but it definitely sounded like the Rats had ripped it off- or maybe it was just my imagination.
Also I'm sure the Stones were acknowledged by Bob as the influence behind the la-lala section on Eva Braun. Was intentionally based on Let's Spend the Night Together (which appealed to Bob's sense of irony and humour for the subject matter of his song).
