I read Bob Said This

It was in one of his interviews I believe. He said that in being Irish there is always alittle English blood in there too. Now, I'm not sure how Irish Bob is. But for me its true because I have Irish and English Blood. More Irish though. but there is English there as well. But I do agree with him there. if taken a DNA test there would be mixture of irish in English blood and visa versa. And I believe Bob has it in him too. after all thats what I read he said after all. Not to mention I see English in him as well as Irish. many of my friends thought he was English. they say he can pass for Irish and English looking.

In my opinion, there's been so much intermixing of "English" and "Irish" in Ireland that no one's likely to be 100% of either.

If that post was meant for me, I didn't insult you, bite your head off, or anything of the sort.  I actually thought I was agreeing with you.

have I said something wrong here? lol........yeah but really his name sounds German. It does not sound Irish one bit. Geldof sounds german. or something else if you will but not Irish. and if his name isnt Irish. he than isnt full Irish either. Although he is still Irish.....thats all i'm saying omg.......lol......

I agree Geldof could sound German, but it would be spelled differently if it were. Many German papers mispell the name as "Geldorf", as Dorf means village. And the Gel- could mean yellow. Maybe it DOES mean that, as one of the languages spoken in Belgium and German have the same root (ok, enough of that... LOL).

I do not agree stipey that if the name doesn't sound Irish, someone couldn't be fully Irish! There has been so much migration in the last centuries and there still is. So someone with a name like N'Dour (just an example) could be fully British. Just like someone called Zidane can be French!

By the way, I think you really should read "Is that it". There's a lot about Bob's family, who emmigrated from Belgium to Ireland and ran a famous pattiserie some generations ago. Many of the things you may want to know are in that book. (not all though, lol)
