By not releasing the new album before Christmas Bob has missed out on the potential of people buying it as a present for the "loved ones".
My brother used to nearly always buy me some XTC album around Christmas. I would imagine some Geldof fans would have bought a few copies to remind their friends of Geldof's talent particularly those who may have liked the Boomtown Rats in the past and frankly have lost touch with his music.
When those cds fly off the shelves in the days before Christmas unfortunately there will be no Geldof option as a present. Lou Reed has a song called Christmas In February funnily enough.

apparently people aint buying music over xmas time asmuch as they used to anyway although apparently according to someone who sorts out advertising for some ofthemusic industry it hasnt effected the yearly total...
