As if there weren't enough Geldof interviews doing the rounds guess who pops up on RTE1 tonight for a documentary on Irish rock magazine Hotpress.
I think Hotpress is celebrating 800 issues so BG sings the magazines praises probably along with the usual Irish suspects eg Bono etc.
I suppose Hotpress especially in the seventies was at the vanguard of the Irish counter culture and into the eighties as well so it has a place in all, particularly Irish ,music fans hearts.
I presume its available on the RTE player for those outside Ireland who are curious or bored with Eastenders. Starts at 10.15 which incidentally is a Geldof song.
Good documentary. It featured a short bit of footage which I had not seen before. I think it was from the Boomtown Rats at Dalymount Football Ground in Dublin in 1977 when they supported Thin Lizzy.
Also featured Geldof shooting his mouth off again, back in '77 about how great the Rats were (won't dispute that) while Fingers puffed on a cigarette. Hadn't seen this before either but it was about a thirty second snipped.
The more up to date Bob appeared as well. Worth checking on the RTE player but of course it was mainly about Hotpress magazine and the need for an alternative type press in Ireland in the mid seventies.
