Or respect the value of music and pay a tenner for the cd or cheaper single track downloads, which shouldn't break anyone.

Surely it makes sense to listen to a record to see if you like it.  Given the last four Geldof albums, I think having an advance listen makes sense before shelling out.

As for the tenner, I think Geldof and co. have had my tenner plus for all the LPs and singles I have bought down the years.  I have at least two versions of every LP (Rats & Solo).  Not as if I have not contributed.

My philosophy is have a listen and if you like it think about buying it.  If a vinyl version comes out I'll get it.  Anyways, there will probably be a deluxe version out in a few moinths times with the other tracks.

ArrGee it probably does make sense to listen to album first, but there are some artists/bands who I just buy.  I don't need to say which ones, where I lose all kind of rationality!biggrin Now that CDs are no longer £16 each it is more affordable to take a gamble.

In reality do people actually buy albums they listen to on Spotify. I think they are more likely to think about buying or downloading but never to actually do it. Part of the "problem" is there is just so much music out there and its so hard to keep up.

Loads of times I check out bands on Youtube and think they sound really good and I'd like to get their album. Then completely forget about the band, because Ive been checking out twenty other bands at the same time!

You'll be pleased to know that Bob Geldof Snr left £2 million in his will- so presume your hero  will  be getting some of that!

Some do and some don't.  I buy some but don't buy others.  I mainly buy albums on vinyl these days.  Some are good enough to give the mp3 download with the LP.
