Good news for you lot is I'm going for my toughest Lent self-denial test yet this year. Done beer, chocolate etc in the past, even did TV once (pretty easy in the end), but this year I'm conducting the social experiment of avoiding internet (apart from work email I guess) from next week till Easter.
Can't believe I missed "lime" .... not too sure about dialmonds though! And actually I was being sensible So what is the third one? Won't be able to get to sleep otherwise.
Numbers, fruit, people where will it all end, it's all getting nutty!
Dialmond Smiles perhaps!
(I'll get my coat!)
This is the fun side of the forum if you can call it fun. When was the last time there was a serious thread started? I'm afraid to start one for fear of being underwhelmed with responses!! Hope someone finds a box of unreleased songs by the Rats they had forgotten they had recorded. Iang mentioned the possibility of there being album demos when he posted about the proposed mingle.

You'll come out a stronger man! Any you'll have an excuse to go to the pub and tell everyone about your exploits.

Noel,
Think my worry on that front is that having only joined the forum relatively recently I kind of assume all the serious questions were covered in early days, and a) long time posters will just ignore as they answered same questions years ago b) I get slightly paranoid about venturing a topic or even an opinion as a johnny-come-lately that's almost certainly nothing new or controversial.
I know it's possible to look back before posting but.....guess I'm just inherently lazy.
In summary, I'm very conscious that naff quizzes should prob/def be more sporadic but would sooner throw in something lighthearted than trawl over old ground.
Sorry to hear you feel your efforts at introducing meaningful debate are failing though. Will try to overcome (as yet unsubstantiated) concerns above and engage regardless.

Can't offer that but have still got some old C60s and C90s with snippets of Bob on various radio shows around 79-80. Not been played in 20+ years so might some interesting points arising out of those...assuming they're still playable.

I quite like covering old ground. Especially cancelled concerts . At worst I'll revive a thread. At best I'll engage. I think the two of you have made some of the most interesting posts in the last five years. Keep It Up!

I think I should start using smileys as sometimes the written word can appear over serious when its not meant to be. I have a bad habit of using exclamation marks but that's to show that something was meant as humorous!
I love the old quote about something working in practise, now if we could only get it to work in theory. Its the intellectualizing of, in this case music when the vast majority of people can just listen and let it be. Their judgements are largely private and uncommented on.
One thing I've learned is that you cannot persuade somebody to like a song or album intellectually or by words no matter how persuasive you try to be or how clever your aguements are. The person will have made up their mind long ago on how they feel so you're wasting your time.
Sorry this is a bit of a ramble but it all relates to "why bother posting".
