The announcement today was for 2006. Bob and Bono missed out. Unfortunate, they really deserved it. I suppose so did all the other nominees and obviously the winner - but...

hmm...yeah, it's a shame, the thing is I'm not sure if I feel that way because I'm a fan of, well, geldof anyway, or because they really deserve it..

oh well, if they missed out they missed out, end of story..

I didn't even know he was nominated this year... According to the Nobel web site, nominations are supposed to be kept secret for 50 years, so if you hear about someone nominated, it should be considered a rumour. First I hear of that.

I read that too MJ, so it is only speculation.

If they were nominated (Bob and Bono) is it likely that they will be nominated again next year - this was on the back of Live8 surely? I know that the work they have done will always be there and the effects are long-term and will happen over a long period of time, but will it still be in the forefront of people's minds next year (people who can nominate)?

I think at least two people came forward saying they had nominated Bob for the Peace prize in 2006. Again, it still falls into the rumour category, but at least it's a more credible rumour: Someone who can nominate coming out and saying they did. We had the same scenario in '85 after Live Aid. I hadn't heard of anyone why said they had nominated Bob in 2005, but I had heard about Bono's nomination.

i struggle to see why the iaea guy deserves one.personally i only think it should be awarded when someone really deserves it, not just as a regular thing cos then its not as special
