Quite funny how connected he is to the Rats.  He played with Garry Roberts, Simon Crowe and Mike Odlum.  He has appeared on the same stage as Geldof earlier this year in Ireland.  Rupert Hine has produced both of them, and Dustin the Turkey has performed a duet with both.

And most interesting, Geldof appears to have recorded a version of Fall Down that appears on a compilation album on sale on De Burgh's site. http://www.cdeb.com/cdebnew/soundminds.html

Given this strong connection, beware.  

Should you hear "I've never seen you looking so lovely..." at a forthcoming show, run!  It won't be Gerry Cott.

A Geldof version of Fall Down, now that's one that's escaped me 'till now so it might be worth looking 'round for. Haven't come across this compilation but it says it's an Ireland only release for Wicklow Mental Health.

Here's an old newspaper clip from the Bray People with more info. It says Fall Down by Bob Geldof so we'll take them at their word. I'm sure there must be spare copies of the cd lying around somewhere.

I suspect it is the Mondo Bongo version as it has a very similar running time.  Bit cheeky of Geldof claiming it as his, he doesn't even sing on it!

If it was Simon Crowe singing would Bob have to get permission from Simon to use the track? I presumed Bob had recorded a new version with him (Geldof) on vocals but am not sure. The running length may just be coincidental.

It seems unlikely Geldof would use a song that he does not sing on, and not credit Simon Crowe as the singer, particularly as they may not have been on speaking terms back in 2002. I don't know, I'm only speculating but it does seem a bit curious.
