It appears that spc1970 is gone. He left me with some words of wisdom.

"I wanted to let you know that you have been a great help to me in teaching my eldest son a lesson. I wanted to show him how someone in his cohort could be easily manipulated into making predictable statements and claims."

So he proved to his son that there are different opinions in the world, and that ours rarely (if ever) met. I applaud his lesson.

"With your unwitting help, I was able to show him how I could push, prod and pull you in whatever direction I wished."

Again, I disagree with spc1970 on a lot of issues. He never forced my hand, or made me admit to being wrong in any case. Rather, I showed him that not all things are proven from verifiable facts (ie: religion, personal feelings on abortion, etc.). He was toying with me, then? What a nice guy...

"I would say that 80% of the time I was able to tell my son what your response would be while I was writing my post."

He knew that my opinions and responses would be more sensible, reasonable, and logical - aka liberal. This goes against his mainstream Conservative thought of, "I reject your reality, and substitute it with my own."

"The funny thing is that some of the others on the board picked up on this. While you may think your belligerence is witty and higbrow, many of the members of the community see it as juvenile and petty. One even suggested the thought of closing the forum to teenagers, not that I know if that is possible."

If this is true, I would appreciate that those too scared in the past to confront a teenager in a forum to tell me so.

"I wanted my son to learn to guard his tounge so as to not make a fool of himself."

That's all I did, of course...

"Wisdom comes from experience and experience is a natural by-product of age."

Granted. Does that make his unprovable opinions more reliable or more plausible than anyone else's? No. Don't mistake wisdom for common sense and logic.

Now I have less to do when I get home from school...:sigh:

Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are absolutely out, out, out on the left side of the field.  I am unanimous in my prediction that his son was so incredibly mind-numbed by his father's boorish behaviour that he just switched off his brain and can now recall nothing of those father-son bonding sessions.

Sorry guys, but don't you think this is a waste of server space and valuable resources (ie electricity, material, time...)?

Just wondering.
