Geldof: 'No more Live 8'

Sir Bob Geldof has vowed never to arrange another Live 8 gig - because he is getting too old.

The poverty-awareness campaigner, who has just been named 2005 Man of Peace, organised Live Aid in 1985 and Live 8 this year (05) - but doesn't think he will have the stamina to do it again as a pensioner in 2025.

He says, "If I leave it another 20 years, I'll be 74, I don't think I could handle it.

"I'm hoping we don't need to have another Live Aid."

Geldof's daughters Fifi Trixibelle, Tiger Lily, Pixie and Peaches are relieved at their dad's decision, because an old man hosting such an event would be "embarrassing".

(I don't know why it would be embarrassing.)

Most importantly, we hope there won't be a need to do it all again, that the effects will begin to take place and things will start to change. And if it hasn't now it probably never will.

I don't think anyone could expect anyone of 74 to do all that work. It's pretty amazing that he did it at 34, never mind 54 and certainly 74!

His daughters probably think he'd look ridiculous doing pop music at that age. Maybe they'd be right, but I hope not. I hope he's still playing. I'll be going to his concerts and I'll be 60

Embarassing for a teenage daughter, perhaps.  But when his daughters are 20 years older than they are now, they'd probably think it was cool as hell.

There will be always a need for charity concerts, if not for Africa then for something else.

No one should force Bob to do another concert,

but maybe he will be still able to do another 20 years later or at least perform in one.

After all his father is 90 years old and still in a great condition, his uncle is also over 90.
