Looks like possible Bournemouth the night before (Fri 21st) as well as part of same tour. That's my Christmas presents sorted then.

And looks like possible Clitheroe on 10/08, which may or may not help anyone undecided about Ripley 11/08 conclude that a short say in the north would be worthwhile. Beautful countryside between the two venues.

Potential Class of 77 in Gateshead on Weds 19/12 too. I'm guessing 20/12 will stay clear as it'll take 2 days to get from Gateshead to Bournemouth smile.

They could be in the midlands inbetween.  Wes can promote another gig smile

Can't believe they can't stick a London date somewhere in there, they could probably sell enough tickets between the three to do a pretty decent sized venue.  Roundhouse would be cool.  If The Damned can do it on their own, surely all three could do it together.

And how about Oxford?  Kind of in the middle and local to me biggrin

Selfishly I'd want them to do Shepherd's Bush at the w/e in London so I can hop on a bus and be there, w/o tube rideswink

 Gateshead on sale at http://thesagegateshead.org/event/class-of-77/

£28 plus £2.50 booking fee, plus the option to donate to 'the cause' of maintaining venue, which seems to be an increasingly common practice on main venue sites. This one defaults to £2, but can easily be overridden. I think they just rely on people not noticing or thinking they have no choice. Well it irritates me at least...furious

Seems to be an all seats venue, but on plus side is pretty much Newcastle city centre (that'll upset any locals), being just south of Tyne Bridge.

I've taken chance on another (dive?) Travelodge on opposite bank (Quayside area) @ £30. Now waiting for Do The Rat to let me know there's a hotel nearby with hot tubs, Thai masseuses and champagne breakfasts for a fraction more smile.

Funnily enough I stayed at a place like that in Denver.  Well, except the Palace fans part, those girls would never go that low smile

Ho ho! smile Like the sound of that hotel.

Thing is gents that watching Palace is better than sex.

I did hear about a hotel down in Sussex offering a similar thing with beautiful girls for Albion fans funnily enough. Closed down due to lack of interest apparently.

Cambridge date added to tour - 10/12...a Monday! Don't like that biggrin - work next day!

Also a 20/10 date showing on RAM for Corby (Northants) if anyone's in that neck of the woods.

Couple of cracking gigs (even from a totally biased perspective). First one in a modern acoustically designed (whatever that means) theatre which rumour has it was being recorded. Shame there were only about 100 there, and that the organisers left a few rows of seats on the dance floor, which reduced atmosphere a little. On plus side, the band sounded great in there, especially for a first run out in a couple of months. Well worth the 7 hour slog up due to numerous M6 accidents. Would have been quicker to fly to New York for a gig smile. Hopefully the recording will see light of day in some form.

Ripley was great for opposite reasons. A sort of village hall in a very picturesque tiny little place just north of 'Arrogit (see pics below - has there ever been a less rock n roll setting?), where the acoustics according to the band weren't the best, but with a very enthusiastic crowd. Again around a hundred in number, with 20 dancing from the off and maybe 50 going for it by the end. Both gigs featured the entire current Rats' repertoire (so about 90 mins on stage) but that did leave them duplicating Mary for a well demanded and received encore at Ripley.

Also had the pleasure to meet a couple of fans who had been at the Lodestar in 77 for first ever UK gig. Apparently the tour bus (i.e. Transit van) was going through the town(s) with a big banner proclaiming 'Boomtown Rats at Lodestar tonight' so they found out that way. They were jokingly hoping last night would be last ever gig so they could say 'I was there at the beginning and the end'.

Even had sunshine in the north. What more could you ask for....

1) Ripley Town Hall plus "promotion" smile       2) Rats equivalent of Abbey Road?              3) Ripley gig

Gig is off tonight as one of From the Jam is ill.

Appreciate that's as helpful as a chocoloate teapot to anyone who's set off but I'm posting because I've just had a mail to confirm rescheduled to 14th September 2013. Must be more than a slight sniffle I'd hazard biggrin

Couldn't the other two bands do longer sets?    Looks like Bruce Foxton has got a very bad throat infection, cancelled two or three other gigs in the last week or so.

Apart from the throat infection, how these gigs going?  Are they likely to do any more in the New Year?  I'd love to go but won't be able to before Christmas.  Still hoping for something more local to me biggrin

That was the first, so not so good so far smile   Yes, all the postponed ones smile

In all likelihood, it may well be the way to see the Rats from now on.    Perm any 3 from this list http://www.rockartistmanagement.com/page/artist_rosta

Sweet, Slade, Rats would be my choice.

That would be a good choice ArrGeebiggrin, would want to do both (Blockheads and the Jame too).  They should get together with Limehouse Lizzy (Thin Lizzy covers band).

How disappointing so far.  Maybe things will get better when throat infection clearedwink

Yes, have seen Limehouse Lizzy a couple of times - they're great!

Well hope the rest of the guys wrap up warm and avoid any illness - I've GOT to see them at Guildford, haven't seen them since January ... No pressure! Just that otherwise it will be a totally miserable Christmas!

i saw thin lizzy a while back in hammersmith with a singer, cant remember his name.

i might of told u this before in fact.

we booked the tickets last minute for hammersmith odeon or is it palais, oh or maybe its apollo, whatever.

we were right at the very back row.

acoustics were naf.

plus a bloke stoof behind me in the aisle was singing really loudly right in my ear to every single lyric and, even sang, very loudly, along to the instrumental bits.

totally ruined my night.

what an annoying person.

lesson learned: dont book tickets last minute always make sure you book decent seats....................

not sure what u do about over zealous fans......... i am always perfectly behaved when i go to concerts :P
