... I don't think any Rats demo's have ever surfaced, except for the debut album but it would be interesting to see what Geldof has in his attic in terms of unreleased or live tracks or indeed demos.
Dudgeon demos are an exception, and I believe there were some V deep excerpts that someone made available. But incredibly, nothing of the demo tape that Virgin and Ensign offered contracts on, nor of the Wainman/Godley & Creme recordings.
Not sure Geldof has much in his attic. Best source of this stuff are sound engineers, the artists rarely bother.
As for this version, it sounds more like a remix than a demo. Definitely not from the Peel sessions. Would be nice to know more about the source.

Sorry for the belated reply. I don't think any Rats demo's have ever surfaced, except for the debut album but it would be interesting to see what Geldof has in his attic in terms of unreleased or live tracks or indeed demos.
Maybe this is from the Peel sessions. I don't know as I do not have said sessions, but it is unlikely there are proper demo's lurking somewhere that have escaped our attention. It is 'interesting' but the published version is much better. When you think about it philosophically songs are always works in progress. The trick is to know when to stop. Woody Allen once said that half of art is knowing when to stop, which is one of my favourite quotes.
