Jules,

Might be in a minority here but I think there's a slight danger the message might get taken the wrong way. Understand it's intended as a 'we want more' statement but Bob wouldn't be the first artist to react badly to perceived overstepping. I'm prepared to believe he takes some pride in whittling down to quality over quantity, and might not take too kindly to criticism of the approach but hey, what do I know? Good luck with the campaign regardless. Hope it doesn't spawn a FB backlash for 'ten tracks are too many' by his detractors.

Suss thanks I hadn't thought about that. I'm trying to get the message across that we aren't being disrespectful. Just want more of him.

Not sure if this is meant to be regarding the 'live' album available at the gigs or to a potential new album?

I basically think ten tracks is enough of a Geldof album or on any album. It is hard enough for Bob or anybody else in my listening experience to come up with ten good songs, just padding it out with more songs isn't going to help if the songs are not good in the first place- 'never mind the quality, feel the width'.

In the 'old days' the leftover songs would appear as b sides or extras tracks on a 12 inch single, so most would be heard. I have said it before but the song The Fields Of Spring was for me good enough to be on  How To Compose Popular Songs ahead of some of the tracks chosen by Geldof himself. Or he could have dropped the jokey Irish codswallop hidden track and finished with a serious, good song The Fields Of Spring.

With Bob actually attracting crowds in the UK ideally a new album would consolidate his career, particularly if its a good one. Most of the Rats albums had about ten songs and that seemed to work pretty well! First album had only nine tracks and I don't remember anyone complaining.

In the end one can just hope that whatever songs are selected resonate with the listener. Hotel 75 should have been on Vegetarians of Love ahead of some of the chosen tracks, but that's only my humble opinion and also Out Of Order was another excellent b side which could have been on Vegetarins of Love.

In we are campaining for anything it should be for a new album. Lets not have to wait ten years.smile.gif

It's about the leftover tracks, Suss. I am lead to believe by various members of the band they are excellent tracks. I've gOt the additional 4 which appeared on the US issue. Yes we need to have a new album sooner than 10 years!

They could put them up on  the www.bobgeldof.com player. Or just have them available as a free download if you have the album.

Ten tracks is enough for an album.  The best albums have around ten.
