Perth review

Perth was really rocking last night. They have probably never seen anything like it before and will not see it again for a long time.  One of the band went to the wrong airport and nearly did not make it, boy did he get a ribbing all night! Bob had a two hour set and had us singing, clapping, cheering and stomping all night. The place was about 2/3 full and the first thing he did was get everyone down to the front. With tracks such as the G S O I , Life is Hard, (my favourite), Walking back to happiness and Scream in Vain as well as old Rats stuff, it was a brilliant night. He obviousy still enjoys his music and had fun, and said as much. He lays thing on the line and had no hesitation in telling a couple of girls chatting in the front row to shut up or F off. (round of applause)  He was also very open and honest about the hard times in his life and this was reflected in his music. Music is a necessary  therapy to him. The music was great ,with fiddles, accordions, keyboards and high quality guitar playing. He got a well deserved standing ovation. After the show we went to the stage door and he saw everyone, siging autographs, shaking hands, posing for pics and asking if we enjoyed the show. He was really down to earth and seems to be great with the "older woman" (me included). Do they want to mother him, do you think? One lady told me she had spied him in a supermarket car park and he had chatted to her for 10 mins and posed for pics. I took some good pics, (3 Row) andhave asked ADMIN to put them on the forum for me, as I dont have a website. There may be more.

Sounds fantastic, as ever. Lucky woman spotting him in a car park! I always hope to have meetings like that. Oh well I bumped into him outside the venue one time. Was he better? I do hope so Who went to the wrong airport? Are you going to enlighten us?

Yes Scottie, thanks for the review! Sounds as if he was better than in Hull and Gateshead!

Please do tell us who went to the wrong airport *gossip*! Not the wrong Perth I hope...

You haven't written down a setlist, by any chance? I'm just so curious!

And was JJ Gilmour the support act? Did you like him too?

Ha ha, if he'd have gone to the wrong Perth he'd have had a bit of trouble getting back in time for the concert, unless he was travelling a couple of days before the gig, but he was in Hull/Gateshead then. Whoever 'he' was!

I think it was Pete,(the wee one) who either went to Gatwick instead of Heathrow to catch the plane up, or vice versa. Sorry, did not get a playlist. I loved the singalong Life is hard . It was JJ and he was excellent. Check out my, and Steve's pics from the show. they are good, even if I say it myself. They are also going on happyfanclub.

The set at perth and Bob himself were was great though the crowd was a bit on the dour side,  didn't stop me being coerced int dancing like an eejit though.  Have been at a gig previously in the new concert hall and the atmosphere is definatly better as a standing venue. Really surprised at the apparent low attendance - don't know if peeps were perhaps confused by the change from the original date.

If anyone is interested I'v put up some (well 3) pictures.

and come to think of it there are a few in the pitures from the 50,000 final push event at murrayfield as well - so dissapointed they left rat trap off the dvd, esp because we got on the telly during it

Really good pictures you have there. The crowd was a bit on the low side, for the simple reason that there was absolutley no publicity outside Perth. The number of people I spoke to ,who said they would have gone if they had known it was on! It was a great night though! Scots crowds are traditionally a bit reserved and slow to warm up aren't they? I had the priviledge of meeting him afterwards as well. Come back to Scotland soon Bob.
