That's not what we meant.  Of course Bob's humanitarian work will still be convered, quite rightly.  But those who want to contact this site about such subjects as Africa, Fathers for Justice or people just wanting Bob to save the world and a whole host of other stuff will be directed away to the appropriate people.

Argee, please put your creative head on over the Christmas and New Year period.  I am delighted to read that you don't get freaked out by celebs. I am arranging a shoot from the lip interview with Bob in the new year. As you know I am a complete tosser when it comes to technology, but the format will be something like:

Meet up with Bob in London, have lunch, get the voice recorder running, take some video footage, then fire away the questions.  Geldof musician - if you are willing I may see if you can come along with me.  I will tell Bob that you are a bit of a guru when it comes to the technology.  So start thinking of your interview technique.

Also you can knock up questions for Pete ( In know you did this before, but bring it right up to date), Vince, Niall, Johnny and Alan.  All will be given much more exposure on the site in 2006. You will all notice that the BoomtownRats.co.uk link has been removed, this is simply because the site was asked on numerous occasions to remove a certain item as it was misleading, this was not done, so therefore we have disassociated ourselves from the site.

After Christmas a new online mailing list will be set up for those interested in Geldof the Musician only.

It's great to hear the band will get more exposure, it was fantastic that they came out after the Leicester gig.

All of this sounds very good, Ian! I'm really really (I mean really, lol!) looking forward to that interview - I think it's exactly what the site needs! I can almost see you guys firing away questions and answers! Can't wait!  As you can imagine, of course I think more exposure of the band will add a lot to the site too! (For my feeling, it's about time - is that allowed if I say that?)

Generally and especially after the last tour, I think it's a good decision to be focussing on Geldof the Musician. Not that it mattered much, but all of these plans/decisions meet my full approval! lol I simply think this is the right direction, and I was glad when I read you posting.

Does this mean that Geldof himself will now concentrate on being a musician? Can we therefore expect a new Album???

Must admit, this is long over due.

This is very VERY exciting news. My feeling is that most people hanging around the forum, chat, and checking out the website regularly are fans of Geldof the musician, first and foremost. Yes, the humanitarian work is important and inspiring, but it's not why I log on here every day. I want to hear about the next gig, the next album, what inspired this or that tune. I can read all about famine in Africa in the paper.

I also love the idea of putting some emphasis on the musicians. They are all very talented and certainly have their bits to say. How about selling a band picture at the merchandise stand?

ArrGee, you lucky bastards! Hopefully you'll bring a few of our questions to those interviews!

Brilliant idea Ian. I agree that Bob is still first and foremost a musician and it is obvious to anyone who was at the gigs that his heart, soul and spirit are still very much in his music. He could not do it without the very talented band, so the more exposure for them the better. I told Bob after the Perth show that he must NEVER stop singing.

I'm feeling schizophrenic! Good job I do have multiple personalities

IF I do go, nothing confirmed, I will, of course, bring questions from the forum.

Like the Lorax,

I speak for the fans, for the fans have no tongues!

Hope Geldof ain't gonna ask me for 15 cents like the Once-ler though!

I think Jules' question about BG and Bono needs to asked, but I'll let her post it herself.

Thanks Fran . There was a thread way back started by Kidneybean asking for questions for Bob. I don't think anything was done with it, but you might find a few worthy questions amongst them. ArrGee.

Excellent idea.  Bob must be happy with this focus as well (of course, he probably was a big part of this musician push)!

I posted my question in Kidneybean's questions thread.

I am sure Bob has a big part in this. Would be good to see more activity in focusing on his music such as new music.

Yes, a good change trigger... After all its "All about Bob" here - this is his little web temple.

By the way, tickets almost sold out for Blues Fest, Australia for those interested in his performance.  I wanted to but couldn't afford the $360 - bought a new guitar for my charity and Bob's honorary studio - found a beaut Takamine that they thought was made in China, but it was an early Japan model with hard top.  Too good to miss, so put it on Layby for Xmas.

Arrrgee - maybe that banner ad could go?  Perhaps a "donation" required from fan/s for it's replacement.  Those other celebrity names dominate the page...

Tango - really like your latest song.  Maybe one day you can teach me how to write... don't forget your PRS! take care :)

The slight misunderstanding with boomtownrats.co.uk has now been resolved and is now back online as a link.

The banner ads allow this forum to be free (and I have no control on them).  However if you would like to fund an advert free forum, then send an open cheque to geldof.info

Hey, much as I'd like to - just as with the concert - I have very strict budget and limited funds which are going to fair trade project - somehow if we want our producers to carry the official Fair Trade Certification - they/we have to come up with 3,0000 euros per year for registration - pretty impossible for grass roots self support intiatives - and us business angel supporters are trying to fund the expensive aspect - eCom and media production etc., that support funds them.  Also quite ironic, I feel considering 8 years ago when I was an original lobbier of Fair Trade when there was non UK... We want to avoid becoming a funding organization that uses the 15% government tax grant incentive - put up our prices 15% and then advertise as fair trade to get buyer sympathy, when really they're just using low and middle income taxpayer money to get sympathy guilt power to consumers to buy... instead of paying tax to support a business to make money out of them they might as well just donate it direct - are but that's the RAT CAT in me.  I'm sure Bob will understand.  It was just, I logged on to his link - and there was ol 50% looking at me from the Banner Ad - I could see irony in that.

What I can do though, is offer you free Rich Media space from my fair trade portal which is hosted anyway,  and possibly some RM design services - which will allow you to post video and sound bytes within the zone rather than have flash movies or ipod downloads.  You can keep it as your own designated area and update it yourselves, or we can get some of our third world rich media artists to do this.  It wouldn't have to be accessed or associated through our web portal - u can direct url link to your sub project without any visibility of toba world fair trade.

Let me know if this might help you, and I'll email you more info/set up the "bob's word" zone space.  My boss Mr O'Toole will have to approve it though...

If you could change the banners that would be good. Those spiders make my skin crawl and that emoticon which asks me to say something everytime I move my mouse drives me nuts the rest, whilst mild irritating are relatively inoffensive.

Anyone else going to post any questions on the questions thread?

Thanks very much for the offer.  You might get taken up on that from the guys at geldof.info.

Please note, I'm just a board member and though I am friendly with the guys who run the website, I'm not part of geldof.info.

That's fine... maybe that's why you're no longer a "powerdown" link from geldof.info site?  Forum boards are good add ons to community sites, so its great you set this up and I really don't mind banners winking at me I've long learned to ignore them - but we are moving into a new phase of web portals that will be more like web tv - it will take a few years for the corps to catch on though usually about 2-4 for it to seep in - so the rich media portal might help for a musical artist who wants to demonstrate their presence.  I have (ironically for me but hey--) a LA rich media partner - and I can give you a project for yourselves, that's approximately 10 scenes and loads of upload bandwidth - so you could run small movies in there. (not bootleg of course) I've checked with me boss Tiny O'Toole, and being Irish, he says: ok.  so whenever/if ever, let me know.  Have a good Xmas everybody!!! x PEACE

A small blurb in a very long article (Bolding mine):

Bob said:

They say I do all of this stuff for my career. Which one? I'm well-off (touch wood). The business stuff is great, thank you very much. I've just finished a mini-tour with my band, brought out an anthology of solo albums and will make a new record next year. I'm fine, thanks.

Wooohooo! We have it in writing too!

well these are the same Q's as on the other question thread but here goes:

- what inspires you to write your songs

- how do you actually go about writing your songs eg. i start with the title and when i've thought of it i use it in my chorus . eg

- how do you come up with your lyrics

stupid finnicky picky question :

- you said in your latest book " geldof in africa " that your i pod is already broken . i thought you hated pc's so how did you put your music on it in the first place

i'd suggest writing the song first instead of trying to work it around your title cos then it's usually more meaningful and heartfelt.just a suggestion
