you can find my photos from the Dublin gig here: my Flickr site
some of them didn't turn out great, but I blame my camera... I'm hoping to invest in a better one soon. I don't like watermarking my photos, so please don't take them, because then I'd have to start
yeah kidneybean, I never use a flash for concert photos - I prefer the effect without (especially in Vicar St, the lighting is wonderful). also I find that it's disturbing to the artist if you're standing close to them and your flash is going off all the time. when I take gig photos I want to get the moments that I see - so, nothing artificial used at all.
Scottie, forgive my ignorance, but who's Eddy and does he have an email address? the site mod for happyfanclub, I presume?
ok, gimme your recipe (please) for indoor gig photos w/o flash! I bought a brand new camera before going to the UK, but I still coudlnt get the right effect
It's got umpteen functions and modes, and depite a long RTFM session, I seem to be at a loss... Luckily my other trip photos turned out very well *phew*
that tip to me? yeah, the blue lights seemed to work out better that time.
although, in the last show I shot at Vicar St, the red and yellow lighting worked really well (the Mark Geary photos in the Flickr album) - so maybe it depends on the lighting itself?
It has to do with how bright the light is, not what color it is.
Steven, if your camera's Fing M is in an online or mailable file, send it to me and I'll read it and tell you what my best guess would be for a proper setting.

FujiFilm S9000 Manual (8MB PDF File) I tried the S priority mode like you mentioned, on a similar light level in the basement... had a "bit" better results. I know that the camera can take a LOT better indoor gig pics, because I've seen some pics of a Queen concert on a digicam forum, and they were excellent.
Thanks Franna And its "Steve" ya know.. noone calls me "Steven" but my mother.. heh
you have an 'n' on your screenname! heh. but I'll have a look at that camera, I'm not familiar with it. my one is a Kodak and the only other I've used recently has been a Sony.
Yes, "Steven", I know you're Steve, but I was trying to differentiate you from "Steve" and I was too lazy to look and see if he'd posted in this thread.
What's the widest aperture on your lens? How was your lightmeter set?
And a "similar" light level in your...basement???? I seriously doubt that's possible, but w/o taking readings we'll never really know. It's been a long time since I shot this sort of thing, but if I remember correctly stagelights were often around F 4 at 1/60 (or was it 1/1/25) at say, ASA 400. But that's a guess from memory. I doubt your basement is that bright - is it?
