Hello all! I've been a member of the forum for a while but due to not much internet access I don't get to log on much. However earlier this week I was logged on & I see there are people requesting the playlist from Vicar street gig. I was lucky enough to get a copy after the gig.
It reads as follows: indifference, love or sex thing, pouring rain, hippie angel, beat of the night, happiness, when the night, harvest, scream in vain, mudslide, birthday suit, mondays, someones looking, Joey, REQUESTS, mary & rat trap.
The list doesn't include the encore. The songs I can remember are Dave, banana republic & I cry too. If anyone remembers the other two songs I'd appreciate a reply so I can complete my list. In answer to a question from another member in regards the song I cry too, it is from Deep in the heart of nowhere.
I thought the concert was absolutely amazing. Like everything else Bob does it blew me away. He had mentioned at the start of the gig that he wasn't well but his vocals were brilliant. My favourite songs from the night were mondays & I cry too. I've been to alot of concerts & I can honestly say I have never seen a song sang with so much passion before. Its been over 2 weeks since the gig but I still listen to that song eveyday!
After the gig I was one of the lucky few to meet Bob & it was an absolute pleasure. I told him I really enjoyed the gig & that if that was him singing when he was sick I couldn't wait to hear him in full health coz I thought he sounded amazing. He signed my ticket, the anthology cd, my playlist & a picture & one of the security guys took a photo for me. He was the perfect gent & is very genuine & down to earth & when I was leaving he give me a hug & kissed my cheek.I'm still on a high! It was definately the highlight of my life & I would give anything to meet him properly & talk to him about everything from his music to live aid, live 8 his biography & his book on Africa.
Not only am I a fan of Bobs music I also love with his politics. From an early age I have done charity work & have being sickened at the poverty that faces the people of Africa everyday. I think its amazing the amount of unrelenting work Bob has done. When he gets awards for this he has a habit of mentioning he would rather music awards & would like to be known as a musician first & foremost. While I love his music & believe that lyrically he is second to none he should be so proud of all he has done for the people of Africa. He is not even a public representative but has done more than any of our politicians. They should all hang their heads in shame for the fact that a self confessed musician has done more for our world than most of them put together.
I say thank you for the music Bob but also thank you for kindness for those less off than us..
For anyone who hasn't read Is that it? or Geldof in Africa I would highly recommend they do & as for the music you get transcended to another world!..........
Regards,
Gwen Langford.....

Thanks Gwen for that! It was a brilliant gig wasn't it? Next time Bob comes home I'm going to stay the night in Dublin so I don't have to rush off afterwards.....
As an add-on, a friend of mine met Conor Deasy (lead singer of The Thrills) after a recent Thrills gig in Cork (piloting material from their third album). Turns out it was definitely him at Vicar St that night and that he too really enjoyed the concert.
