so, on the subject of our precious tax money that we seem to have little left of, do u think bob is right to think we should be giving more in aid?
my thoughts? well i think, speaking for myself........ i would wonder what planet most of the population in this country is on before i questioned what planet bob was on. take the olympics for example, 11 billion quid spent on that...... and for what???? a few sports matches lasting no more than 2 weeks. wtf is that all about? so personally i think before we start worrying about bob taking our precious money off to ethiopia we should be worrying about half the people in this blinkin country that think its somehow alright to squander much hard earned dosh on a blinkin new sports stadium!!! not to mention the royal blinking family who should have their money cut , in fact cut right off! nothing personal about the royal family, i quite like harry and william, they seem like alright geezers and i wouldnt want to see any of them suffer but i dont think they should be paid by us, certainly not under this economic climate.
so anyway, some saying spend loads on royalty and games, and anther saying give aid...... well we cant do all of it can we?
hmm the journalists says hes not really into being told how to spend our money by a few rich rockstars, i.e. on aid.
lol - we are CONSTANTLY being told where our money is and isnt going to go by moronic gutless spineless robotic plebby thick-as-**** politicians lol so a few rich rock stars have joined in................
and as for us? do we care? well the journalist at least has something to say................ but he's talking cowardly in his little box............. about our limited amount of tax money and how it shouldnt be spent on aid............. totally defeatest like the general population are............ and not bravely coming forward with ideas of how to make sure the poor have equal opportunities and the disadvantaged given more support to overcome those hurdles, that there is better education for all and that the media are more responsible and that the power is not in the hands of just a few........ and instead making uninspiring comments about how we can't afford aid.
Problem is it's always difficult to be objective about where "our" money is being spent, as everyone has different ideas about what is important. Would say that Olympics does inspire some people, and maybe gives them the opportunity to achieve great things despite perhaps having disadvantaged backgrounds or suffering injustice, eg Paralympians. I guess music also gives similar opportunities depending on support and own will to succeed ...
But I guess deep down we all hate being told what we should do!
yep lisa, good points...... its all subjective. if only there was more money in the pot!!!
the olympics may have been inspiring to some, i think particularly the paralympics, although i have to say, why don't they do something like this throughout the year?? think how many MORE people could have been inspired with 11 billion quid to spend.....
i dont pretend to know all the actual profit and loss details of previous olympics, well actually there IS something on wikipedia or similar about what host countries have made or loss. but tbh i find it all very spurious to say the least. maybe the problem is i'm too much of a skeptic but i just cannot imagine where 11 billion quid is gonna come from over the years just cos we've got a new stadium lol. apparently some host countries have lost millions.. in the process.... so at the most this is a very very risky business.
ive no interest in sport really, although i did find the spirit of the paralympics inspiring, not that i watched much of it, but then i dont watch much tv full stop. i dont know if i could be good at sport since i've never trained to find out.......... and music, well, i can knock out a beat on a drum kit and play about 2 or 3 chords on a guitar. lol.
Well I did play the recorder when I was younger - but think the neighbours would probably have offered good money for me to stop
I guess in answer to Post question, Bob is probably annoyed by apathy and inertia, which I must admit I'm sometimes prone to! Whether or not you always agree with him, he was pretty amazing at organising the whole Live Aid thing when really it's a miracle it got off the ground and worked so well. But that in itself probably annoys other people - maybe for making them feel guilty for not actually being motivated enough to do something themselves. But love him or otherwise, he's always very good at getting a reaction! It obviously helps if you have a massive ego, and a huge public profile - most of us probably feel we're too "small" for anyone to notice or be able to achieve anything worthwhile so tend to focus on things closer to home. But then again, if everyone shouted about what should be done, it wouldn't get done anyway as there would be too many voices all wanting different things. Interesting though.
Well not sure the world is ready for me to appear in public with my knickers on top of my tights But I'd like some cute cat ears - so Cat Woman perhaps? Or should that be Rat Woman?? Think I'd have to go for the cat option - they're cuter. Maybe we could rename Simon, Garry and the guys the Boomtown Cats? That would make me much happier.
ooh i went to the work xmas party as cat woman, hmmm yes that was a sight for sore eyes. wore a pair of pvc leggings from primark that split round the arse the 2nd time i wore them....... someone tell those kids in pakistan to use stronger material, or wherever they work from, bless, now thats a dilemma, better to shop or boycott? not sure on that one........... poor lil things......................
hmm well lisa since you are going to save the world as cat woman i shall have to think of something else. but great minds eh ? ;0)
Yes, know what you mean about the cheaper prices in shops - only problem is even in more expensive places you don't know whether the real workers are getting paid any better ... though maybe that's just an excuse to make me feel better.
