well they don't to my knowledge unless they sneak around in disguise lol

it seems though, doesnt it, that 'they' are sortta more sacred than the rest of us........ as in they must live in kind of ivory towers unto themselves..... what i mean is they dont sort of mix with us ordinary folk do they?  unless you are a die hard fan and manage to get back stage passes and kiss arse you are unlikely to be anywhere within a foot of a celeb/famous/well known person eh?  i mean u aint gonna bump into geldof on the tube, and probably not the other rats either.  maybe they all drink in a pub somewhere in their well=to=do neighbourhoods where everyone's a rock star or wives of rock stars with facelifts that spend all day in the gym cos theyre rich enough to not have to do much else. HAHAHAHA. lol i probably am sounding hateful and bitter to some people but its not the case really.  i just wish i could meet them LOL cos a lot of em seem quite interesting.

but sadly lets face it i aint gonna really bump into these peeps ever, apart from the bloke that founded company i work for who is quite well known and who i come across once every 2 years or summat like that lol.

on a more thoughtful note....... there are probably quite a lot of interesting people around that i dont know exist........ and according to my life so far this would definitely seem the case as i have met plenty of ordinary and interesting people........... maybe i should blame the media and be angry that us ordinary folks' lives are so sheltered from eachother.... cos we can't see through walls....... at home alone we only see people on TV.... and its always the same bloody people i've noticed - haven't u?  why does our media so under represent ordinary folk??  interesting ordinary folk, not just the ones that get set up so we can all rip the piss out of them.

why isnt there more room for ordinary folk in the media?  why on earth should i care so much more about one a celeb thinks than what my next door neighbour thinks?  but this is it isn't it..... we become more familiarised with the faces and personalities and often the lives of celebby type people than we do our next door neighbours or in some cases even our friends....

..... which is why i spend most of my time on the blinkin internet and rarely watch tv cos wtf do i want to spend my life watching peeps that i'll never meet that couldn't and will not give a toss about me ever much less know i even exist when i can be chatting to real people that will indeed give me the time of day and even want to meet me for a beer and a natter!

i feel like its sort of 'them' and 'us' and that we rely far too much on 'them' when we should be looking to eachother to make things happen in our own lives instead of being such a bunch of boring lemons.

i know what i mean anyway.

just saying

I bet some of the famous people do actually miss being normal, and anonymous, and get fed up with people just wanting to talk to them because they are famous and not because they know them or like them.

Me, I find that now I'm in my 4th decade, tend to do that annoying "old" person thing of just talking to anybody! Even though I can still remember how embarrassing it was when my parents did it! I embarrassed myself though the other week when I said "thank you dear" to a checkout girl - totally mortified, it just slipped out and I just stood there thinking "God I sound like a pensioner!" Sadly she didn't bat an eyelid - so she must have thought I was

Anyway I'll say hello to you Joan and have a beer and a natter And if we get those cat costumes, it would just be purr-fect!!

Whatever about posting of forums celebs always seem to be on Twitter. Forums tend to be for deeper discussion so unless a celeb or ordinary person is into more detailed dissection of an issue they probably do not post on forums.

I, for one, am tired of the media picking up on things said on Twitter. It's a case of the medium becoming more important than the message. From footballer tweets to celebs I've never heard of, the world just seems to be full of useless information, instantly forgettable and totally dull.

The recent thing about 'Facebook envy' was quite interesting ie jealousy arising from thinking others have more friends, better lives, better experiences. Seems it's a new phenomenon and is causing lots of people to leave Facebook.

Stephen Fry is to blame. You'd think he would have more class than putting himself all over Twitter.

Lisa thats what i wonder as well, whether its tough not being able to get on a tube and all the attention etc.

these are the sort of interesting questions i would ask if i was an interviewer, instead of the boring dull interviews most journalists seem to do........... how come people are bright enough to write creatively yet can be TOTAL feckin BORING tw@ts.  lol

so.... anyway.... i should be an interviewer.......

i would be genius at it.....

have u noticed that interviews with Bob are all the same old boring ****.........?

perhaps i am being too hard on the journalists when perhaps it is in fact Bob that tells THEM what questions they can and cannot ask

hmmmm

(and yes we will have that beer and natter in june at iow :))

I like Stephen Fry actually..... well not that i know him..... but he seems alright........ i follow him on twitter ONLY thing is that i dont know how to use it so its all a bit of a pointless exercise really.... not sure how i liked him, i dont know how to use it anyway, which means i dont tweet, so thats that.

funnily enough TWO coincidences happend relevant to this thread this evening.

Coincidence No. 1
Joe Jackson (that famous bloke) posted some comments to the Bob Geldof facebook fan page!!!! just a day or two after my complaints about famous people not posting on these things.

then.....

Coincidence No.2
minutes after Joe Jackson posted on BG fan page, a friend of mine (who had absolutely no idea that Joe jackson had made any comments on fb) po'sted a song by Joe Jackson to my fb wall called 'everythin gives u cancer'

IN FACT ANOTHER coincidence happend tonight AS WELL, now i'm thinkin about it.

Coincidence No.3
I was just thinkin about Amy Mcdonald as i turned on the radio only to find the dj playing amy mcdonald

well well well

amazing eh?

There is an IRISH JOURNALIST CALLED JOE JACKSON WHO WRITES FOR HOTPRESS AND HAS DONE LOADS OF INTERVIEWS WITH GELDOF. Just google Geldof joe jackson and there are some interviews posted on YOUTUBE.

BUT MAYBE IT IS THE SINGER, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHY HE WOULD BE POSTING ABOUT GELDOF.

ONLY SAYING!

It is the Irish journalist. I'm his friend on FB and have chatted with him. He's been on there before advertising his kindle interview with Bob.

ON ONE OF THOSE SAMPLE INTERVIEWS BOB GETS VERY UPSET AT THE LINE OF QUESTIONING AND IT IS A REMARKABLE PIECE OF AUDIO. IT'S POSTED ON YOUTUBE ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER BITS OF INTERVIEWS WITH GELDOF. This is so far from the easy rides on afternoon tv. jACKSON DOES NOT ASK STUPID QUESTIONS.

DESPITE THE HEATED EXCHANGE  GELDOF CALMS DOWN,AND JACKSON,  TO BE FAIR TO HIM IS A VERY GOOD INTERVIEWEr, AND IS ASKING FAIR QUESTIONS. For all that Geldof and jackson go back a long way, and jackson is a fan of Geldof and the Rats. IT'S PERHAPS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TETCHY ROCK STARS CAN GET- BUT GELDOF AN A JOURNALIST IN THE OLD DAYS WOULD BE ASKING THE SAME KIND OF QUESTIONS, AND NOT BACKING DOWN.

 Speaking of having a giraffe:

Why wasn't the giraffe invited to the party?

He was a pain in the neck.

What do you get when two giraffes collide?

A giraffic jam!

Why did the giraffe graduate early?

He was head and shoulders above the rest of the class!

What's worse than a giraffe with a sore throat?

A centipede with athlete's foot!

I do have more, but will save them for another time perhaps ...

biggrin

I've heard of having a mare, but a giraffe?

Whats the difference between a JCB and a giraffe? The JCB has got hydraulics while the giraffe has......(heard this one in school years ago!)

Never trust a ****ney-they're always talking in riddles. Have to admit the giraffe/laugh is not that obvious but of course makes "sense" once you know. Having a mare is short for having a nightmare btw.

No one in London speaks c0ckney.  None left, all moved off to the sticks.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10473059

Traditional c0ckneys have moved out of the capital and into the surrounding counties of Essex and Hertfordshire, especially towns such as Romford and Southend.

London is just way too multicultural for me to live there. I came back to Ireland to reestablish a sense of identity. Don't get me wrong - I love London but wouldn't want to live there. It's great to come and go there as an occasional treat.

Funny thing is Dublin is becoming way too multicultural as well. The Irish are having to move to Australia and Canada, USA etc, while there seems to be a constant influx of eastern Europeans and other races. I don't consider myself to be zenophobic, my position is that a certain percentage of foreigners is ok, but when that figure reaches 25-30 percent in less than fifteen years something has gone wrong.

BTW One of the top stories on the BBC News website today was about the dwindling white British population of London, and how whites are moving out of London to the Home Counties. The demographics are changing very quickly, whereas in the past immigration was a slower process, or at least it seemed to be. I find myself being more attracted to the countryside and a  bit tired of cities and all their problems eg bad manners, psychpaths every few yards on the steet, junkies etc.

its funny but i bumped into more people with bad manners, psychopaths and junkies in a town outside of London, southwards than have done in london..... perhaps its down to the town or the circles i moved in.....anyway noel i get your point about london being very multicultural..... i have to say though i love london in many ways..... and whilst i find the multicultural aspect enhances the London experience to some degrees..... i have to say i am a bit paranoid and uncomfortable when it comes to men from certain cultures that insist on women wearing burkka things ( i know i've spelt that wrong) or men from countries where people are stoned for stuff like adultery or much less or killed for being gay.  countries where women aren't allowed to vote or wear trousers.  it makes me want to be SICK..... however for me at this time in my life the pros out-weigh the cons for now........  but speaking as a woman, i do get where our cultures clash with others in this country (understatement)...

also though i have to say theres a fair bit of crap that goes down by british white people as well, in fact a hell of a lot, but at least the law is more ruthless against offenders, if proved than some other countries. also i MUST add i get that there are peeps from countries where all this goes on that are SOUND.

Most immigration is down to economics, in a way. People do generally not move around unless they feel they have to, and it is always difficult for people who are not natives to fit in fully. Equally when the locals feel their identity is being eroded and there is nothing they can do about it it creates problems too. Competition for jobs and housing, whether real or imagined is a hot issue.

I get to travel around a bit, and I like both cities and the countryside. It's great to go somewhere really quiet and peaceful, equally a bit city can be quite stimulating, bring on the summer for more travelling!

i dont get to travel much really. at the moment i dont have much of a desire to travel abroad although i would quite like to travel france more (was in normande and also paris last year) but also i would really like to see some of ireland, scotland and the North of england, places like manchester and liverpool i have never been to. i know a few peeps in the manchester area who i will get around to meeting up with at some point.

for me its time and money that is often the issue. trying to keep up with mates i have already is a struggle and trying to squeeze a weekend away is hard.... when i have a free weekend i often want to be at home to chill out. yep time management is a bit of an issue tbh.

but ireland i really want to go to at some point, on my list of things to do, hmmmm just thought of an idea for a thread. :)
