The repeated show can be heard on the Toginet player also, sometimes on a Tuesday after the show, or the Wednesday.  We have just finished recording the show for this coming Saturday and we have Rats aplenty, Mental as Anything, Emilie Sande, Howlin' Wolf, Jet Harris, B P Fallon, The Ramones, George Harrison, Iggy Pop, Johnny Cash and of course BG.  I think I shall play Joan of Arc next week by Orchestra Manouvers in the Dark for you, but the connection to Geldof is of course Garry Roberts, after the Rats split worked as a sound engineer for OMD.  It would be nice if one or two of the forum members suggested playlists, and of course we will consider them.  The format for Room 19 has to be, whatever we play must have a connection, no matter how small, with Geldof. Also in any one week we have to play at least 5 tracks made up of BG and Rats which leaves about 7 ish tracks to play with. It would be interesting to see a set list put together by Arrgee, Noel in Dublin etc  ......

Hi Ian,

As one of the etc, my very quickly compiled first suggestion would be:-

Living in An Island - BTR - for IOW

Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi - for IOW/Mondays collaboration

This is the World Calling - BG - for expectant fans

Go Man Go - BTR                                         }

Velouria - Pixies                                          }

Peaches - Stranglers                                  }  For the family smile

Like a Rolling Stone - Dylan                        }

Here's to You - BG                                      }

D.U.N L.A.O.G.H.A.I.R.E - BTR

Down by the Jetty - Feelgoods - for the influence

Boom Boom - John Lee Hooker - ditto

Mary of the Fourth Form - BTR - for borrowing from the above

Havent had time to think of a full playlist but it would include

Too Late God BG- Just for the lines 'I won't come back as a rat/wouldn't if I could do'.smile.gif

Real Different - Rats

Gospel Song -BG

Elephant's Graveyard -Rats

Play To Win -Gung Ho

I'm Stranded -The Saints

Idiot Wind- Dylan

Deadly Nightshade -The Only Ones

Miniature Sun -XTC

Ambition -The Subway Sect

Good luck with podcast/shows Ian. If I get into making music lists then I'd be hear till kingdom come. Not sure if there ever is a definitive playlist. I'm currently listening to albums by Of Montreal and Dawn Of The Replicants, always on the lookout for that perfect song.

In an effort to shoehorn stuff I like on a fairly tenuous basis in an overly long edition ...

  • Rats - Like Clockwork - Co written by Briquette/Crowe
  • Kirsty MacColl - You Caught Me Out   - Co written by Briquette/Crowe
  • Pulp - Bad Cover Version (Band Version) - A take on Band Aid
  • Slade - C'mon Feel The Noise - Various connections, but mainly a song called Do You Believe in Miracles? about Band Aid, however that song is too pi$$ poor to broadcast
  • Jarvis C0cker - Running The World  - About Live 8
  • Ramones - Blitzkreig Bop - Toured with Rats
  • Gerry Cott - Ballard of the Lone Ranger - Written by Cott
  • Rats - Man at the Top - Written by Cott
  • Thin Lizzy - Waiting for an Alibi - Crowe played drums on TOTP
  • Teardrop Explodes - Reward - Cope lives in Tamworth
  • The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon - Covered by Geldof
  • T. Rex - Hot Love - Produced by Visconti
  • David BowieFashion - Produced by Visconti
  • Happy Mondays - Step On - Cos they were named after I Don't Like Mondays
  • Gung~Ho - Play To Win - Co written by Fingers
  • Rats - She's So Modern - Co written by Fingers
