THE organiser of the Edinburgh Live 8 concert has launched a scathing attack on Bob Geldof.
Pete Irvine, the founder of Unique Events, said his dealings with Geldof had left a "sour taste in his mouth", and claimed he would never work with the singer again.
hmm i get the impression tha bob has said something that he disagreed with and now he's just taking out his anger.it just sounds like hes ranting and raving a bit to me
Everyone up here knows that it was Midge Ure and not B.G. who organised the Murrayfield gig. If he "did not give a ****", why is there an hour's worth of Edinburgh coverage on the Live8 DVD?
Everybody knows that Bob is not an easy person to work with. What did he expect?
PS I have just fired off a letter to the Scotsman. We will see if it is printed!
A very revealing quote from Barry Wright, co director of Unique Events with Mr Pete irvine. From tonights Edinburgh evening news
"For me the biggest highlight of 2005 was being asked at just a few weeks notice to organise Live8 at Murrayfield. Ending up with 150 artists on one night was fantastic"
I think Mr irvine's outburst says more about him than Bob.
hmmm well i think what every 1 else has said i at the best of timees ( or worst) can be exeptionally tactless so i wouldn't be surprised if bob (with his reputation as a loud gob) has said something and put his foot in it lol . i'm on bob's side
Watch Midge's interview. He definitely organised the whole thing, but obviously lost the fight with Bob over cutting him. How could they cut him, the creator of it all and with a song very pertinent to the sentiments of the day! Also watch the backstage interview, as Bob is on that.
Who cares who organised what in regards live 8. People are not thick we know that Bob didn't do everything on his own. Yes he did give a s#### about Edinburgh. He kept saying on the day it was in some ways it was the most important concert as it was closest in date to G8 summit. In regards Mr Pete Irvine, why bring this up now? I do wonder is he just looking for publicity?

Welcome to the forum Gwen. I think you have hit the nail on the head about publicity. He is well known up here and is always making statements about something or other. The clash of 2 egos I think? Did you see Bob in Dublin by the way?
PS Did anyone else notice on the Edinburgh Live8 DVD, at the end when Bob and Bono came on with Midge, that Bob looked SO tired and completely washed out. You could really see it in his face. People forget about all the strain when they have a go at him. He puts in 100+ %. He is probably about the only person who could have organised all of it so sucessfully.
Just a bunch of "revolting" Sherpas whose egos don't want to make the journey to the "summit". They'd rather pee on each other.... Why are people so small minded - they see who and what Bob has done??? Doh, the Sherpas have no clothes on... I challenge ANYONE who has done as much PUBLICLY for poverty alleviation in this generation to have the right to **** on him... Yep, thought so - silence.
