That this is complete nonsense. Unless anyone has heard Bob actually say it:

What do you think?

very surreal.i wouldnt believ it for a second.for a start i can't imagine bob saying that sort of thing publicly or at all in fact.nor do i find the situation very realistic either.its a bit too stereotyppical to be true

The quotes certainly don't sound like Bob-speak to me!

That's a tough one, Jules.  Contactmusic.com usually seems to be in the correct ballpark regarding Geldof (not always, and no I don't always believe what I read!), and it wouldn't surprise me if it were true, especially when the BTR were getting started in the late seventies.  Also in my opinion, the quotes do sound like things Geldof would say...!

I've never heard/read of this incident before so it may very well be untrue.  shrug.

I've read in a couple of interviews him make statements about heroin and it was on ABC television with Andrew Denton that he made comments about Heroin, but it was obvious that he was joking.  The other statements I've read him make are that he's never really been able to let go of his life like and do drugs heavily like some of his mates and colleagues in the music industry - there was also a similar quote he made in that 10 questions about spirituality book I've mentioned.  If he did say/do this, he wouldn't be the first nor the last.  I just hope it's not a deliberate smear.

If it is something Bob has said, it could well be not all that it seems. You know what the press are for misrepresenting quotes etc! Interesting. Not that it matters, it was years ago, it's their business etc, just my inquisitiveness

I'd say it's very likely to be true as it sounds typically rock starish.  Especially from Phil Lynott who Midge Ure was friends with, but described him in his autobiography as a great guy but someone you wouldn't leave in a room alone with your girlfriend.

It is true folks. Midge Ure confirms this happened in his autobiography, (see my thread on books), but Paula just laughed it of seemingly.
