Heres Like Clockwork from Festiva TV. Seems a professional job, but not good for getting an idea of audience size, or reaction. Same with the other 'Citizen reporter' type bits on YouTube, most are Bobcentric, and ignore the rest of the band, and you just don't get audience reaction shots.

I checked set-list, and some I say said they played the song, others they didn't - anyone heard the new song?
They encored with 'The Boomtown Rats' but to my knowledge the 'Back to Boomtown' track hasn't been aired yet. Only just over a month to wait if it isn't played or leaked though...
Hope it's not more drum and base/dance stuff. More rock pleeeeaaaaassseeeee.
The 'drum and bass' is more likely influenced by Pete than Bob. Garry said in an interview that he and Geldof were trading guitar riffs, so hopefully it will come good at some stage, and we can have some new songs. I suspect that most of the songs with 'rat' in the title will end up on the cutting room floor, and we will see an album with a variety of subject matters and lots to talk about.
Bass not base . Yes, I hope you're right. They won't appeal to Drum and bass fans, as an old new wave/alternative. I'm sure The Boomtown rats is a bit of fun but time to leave it there.
Thanks very much for the info, I am very much looking forward to hearing this new Rats track!
Noel - I am unbelievably missing out on the Rats gig in Cork, almost can't believe it myself given how big a fan I am. There is a conference on that day in Dublin, and the department here are heavily involved, I couldn't even get a half day. But - it's almost out of the realm of possibility that this Dublin band don't add a Dublin date, so I await in hope
I've been spreading the Rats gospel actually, my family in law in Japan are BIG fans now, I introduced to them last year and when I was over in February/March they were palying them a lot! Some of their friends are becoming fans too :)

They have a date pencilled in for Belfast in October and I'd imagine the there will be a Dublin date at some stage. If not then getting across to the Uk is a very feasible option, where there are dates in lots of the big cities. I hope to get to a few of the UK dates in October.
I will be heading over to the gig at Chagford, nr Exeter. They are headlining on 20 July in front of 5000 people. Have all my tickets and hotel booked.
I can't wait to see them, I've been a big fan since 2004 after seeing Bob perform at the Vicar Street Venue just around the time the reissued Rats albums came out. I went out and bought some of them after that gig and marvelled at how brilliant they were!!
I will have to wait for October so, but, it'll be worth it; I never thought I'd see a reformed Rats and a chance to see them

How long does it take to get to Cork from Dublin. They won't be on until 9pm and there should be tickets available on the day. Well I hope so, otherwise I'll have my ear pressed against the tent.
Unfortunately Dublin to Cork is a fair distance, you're talking 3 + hours, and I may be stuck here with that conference until after 6pm.
I'll just have to wait for an announcement for Dublin!
On the night of July 5th instead of unfortunately not seeing the Rats, I've agreed to accompany two super Quo fans to the 'Bula Quo' movie^
Train varies between 2 hrs 35 mins and 2hrs 45 mins. Wi Fi on trains, loos, food, legroom. The most civilised way to travel. The trains on the Dublin to Cork line are very impressive- best on the Irish rail network.
I got a return ticket to Cork for 32 euros. Like flights you just need to book early.

The first hour is just getting out of Dublin! Once I had to drive from Dublin airport and spent an hour getting on the road to Cahir. Went home via Cork, a lot easier.
Talking of the above. Was in Easton's today with my son, when a mag caught my eye called Classic pop. (Well it was the rats name that caught my eye really). And for the 1st time in along time, I bought a pop mag. Strange thing what the rats getting back together makes you do. Any way a guy called John Earls give's the new best off cd the thumb's up. And not only that he has given a good review of the two new songs. Rock on.
