Wat jammer. Joke will be disappointed as she was going to go to all the gigs. Maybe Geldof might try a Rats gig in Amsterdam and that might work, rather than playing in small provincial cities and towns in the Netherlands.
This space flight thing is a bit bizarre. Funny he did lot of interviews lately and then just mentiones it yesterday. Didn't say a thing about it on the Late Late. He also guested on Radio Nova in Dublin on Saturday as well as the Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk.

Hmmmm...would it not make more sense that he coincided his training with where he was already committed for some gigs? Is there not a simulator closer to home? I just can't see it that he double booked himself or the training took priority when it cropped up. All points to insufficient sales for me, but freely admit I've no idea whether they were close to sold out or closer to empty.
At one point I considered the trip and had a hotel booked, keeping an eye on flights. So glad I didn't commit, but others will have. If the reason really is anything to do with training (or is your wit lost on me in translation?) it's a bit disrespectful to punters, not to mention his bandmates. Either way late notice cancellation of any gig is always a massive disappointment, and sometimes expensive.
Does this spell the end for Bob as a solist trying to play concert halls?.Apart from festivals and maybe London he is just not a well known musician. The masses want to see the Boomtown Rats, not Bob.Sad but Bob may have to face up to some facts.

He is going on a very specialised 'mission' and I maybe the only suitable training simulator is in the Netherlands. It has got to be pretty specialised but anyway the whole notion of Geldof flying to the edge of space is pretty bizarre and I'm surprised there has been so little reaction of the forum.
It's also strange that Geldof's age and lack of fitness don't seem to have stopped him from this weird subplot in his life. Still it's pretty brave of him.

I doubt it. He still seems to get some decent paydays solo, especially in the Irish pub in the middle of the fcuking desert. Only time I ever saw him solo, it was pretty full, so he has no need to pack it in. And if he can afford $100,000 for a space ride, then he can afford to pay his band to tour with him. When you are as rich as Bobby Boomtown, you never need to face facts.
Right now he just seems to be doing whatever he fancies which is good news for most, though obviously not those who had tickets for the gigs this weekend.

I will put the :-p in my next post regarding Rats Trek - The Wrath of Bob. I ain't got a clue why the gigs were cancelled. Probably no one bought tickets as usual, but it would be more interesting if it was due to space training.
PS - There is a porno film called The Wrath of Bob...
Yes very disappointing of course. Poor ticket sales caused it, it happened two times before in NL in the past 5 years. I did my best as usual, bought 9 tickets in total :)
And I'm absolutely 100% sure that the space training thing has nothing to do with the cancellations.
S**t happens and now looking forward to see the Rats in London!!!
Well there is more talk about them generally around the Internet and the FB page is growing more quickly. I'd say that was a sign of greater interest. Bob is appearing on TV and radio at peak times and audience appropriate shows. The chances of cancellation are much smaller than solo. We hope .

There's just no getting away from Geldof. Next Monday he is being awarded the Freedom of the City of London, so doubtless more huge publicity. Not sure exactly what benefits he will accrue, but in Dublin the old medieval laws allow Geldof to graze his sheep on St Stephens Green after he became a freeman of our unfair city.
