For all Bob's latest news please visit his Facebook and Twitter pages. Links are on the right hand side of each page of this website. Just a short explanation on the makeup of the Facebook an Twitter pages... they are run by three fans, who have been given authority and sanction from us atbobgeldof.com to run the social networking sites. Please be advised that the social networking sites are not Bob Geldof himself, as it clearly states on the sites. If you want to rant please dont do it on the Facebook site, you can email us here and we will deal with your emails in the appropriate manner.
The odd thing is the sites get mentioned on posters (see below) and inside the CD cases, yet neither are particularly current. The facebook pages like this forum are always going to be most current as anyone can write to them, but I would have expected some "inside" information on the main sites.
It's less than a fortnight before the first date of the Ireland and UK tour, there are a couple of very interesting shows on the BBC this weekend, a couple of videos for the new songs, there is the imminent release of a box set and a brand new ep. I would have thought that there'd be some coverage.
I have criticised the Geldof site in the past for its lack of information, and I don't want to have Willo waiting to do me in when I turn up for the gigs, but if they ain't excited enough to write anything now, when will they be?
Still who am I to criticise? I still haven't mentioned the box set on my blog (waiting for the track listing if truth be told) nor the Back To Boomtown video. No excuse for the latter other than simple laziness!
I'd fix it now, but I am in a social media free zone (no blogs, no facebook, no twitter, no personal email). Which is not an entirely bad thing. Somehow this forum eludes them.

Looking at www.boomtownrats.co.uk and www.bobgeldof.com, you'd not really be that aware of what is happening. This forum is getting a fair amount of activity and been a good source of information, but it's surprising there aren't more proper updates from the band regarding TV, releases and details of support for the forthcoming dates.
I can't comment on the facebook/twitter feeds as I don't have access to them. No social media allowed here.
I noticed a comment on the BG website saying to get up to date information go to tw@tface. That's weird considering I get most of my info from Twitter and here and the papers for the face part it???
This is what is says under the news section of BG site:

How to compose popular songs that will sell
This website is administrated by Tina McBain and is the official website for all things Bob Geldof, mainly concentrating on the music and human interest. Bob is renowned for not reading his press, but he has been putting his fourpenny worth into the design and content of this site - he has undergone a metamorphosis somewhat and gone from grumpy old man to Mr. Chuckles. Yeah right!!

The writing on that poster is very misleading for those not familiar with band members - ie Geldof written under Garry's photo and so on!
They should reflect the photograph. That would work.
Still nowhere near as misleading as the photo for the Rats Brean Sands 70'S Festival. Essentially it was musical differences that led to BTR, Wes and myself not appearing as billed ahead of Pete and Darren. We couldn't play the songs and they could
