Ticket touting at pop and rock concerts

It is infuriating. And if you genuinely want to sell your tickets on because you can't attend for some reason, then it puts you in a bad light. People will think twice about whether to buy a ticket from you. It is all so unfair.

Some good news at least. getmetickets.com has been closed down by the government. They did not deliver the goods. A start, now make it illegal to tout tickets at all music events.

I have never bought tickets anywhere except through the proper channels. The prices some people paid for the U2 gigs in Croker last year was a disgrace. I was so glad when Ebay stopped the sale of tickets for Live 8. It just shows some people have no morals...

Like Cliff Richard? The cheating Christian put tickets on sale for his Nov/Dec 2006 tour in October 2005!!! There is a MAXIMUM PURCHASE LIMIT (after 2/12/05) of 50 tickets !!!!! Even worse, he's fleecing all those OAPs who are going along for £50 each.

Anyway, if people are fool enough to pay over the top to see acts let them.

No way I would pay to watch anyone from the back of a stadium, especially knowing they rope off an area for all the corporates at the front. I think the prices these acts charge is exhorbitant.

Must admit I did laugh the other day, when people who bought tickets for Bon Jovi palaying the first gig at Wembley found out that the bewigged monster of soft rock added another date. The day before!

£25+ to see Geldof @ Shepherd's Bush! and then he doesn't even turn up!

Yeah I did think his tickets went on sale a little bit early but I suppose he probably needs that much time to sell a decent amount of tickets, ha ha!! I wouldn't go see him even if I was paid!!

Go Bon Jovi, thats what I call forward planning! I'm going to see them in Croke Park on May 20th. Saw them twice before & they are brilliant live & to hear Nickelback are doing support is an added bonus!!!

I have bought an e-ticket through seatwave for Pulp weekend after next. Thing is it has the name Patel on it, and I'm looking a bit pasty at the moment. I just hope Mr. Patel isn't flogging this ticket continually. May have to be there when the gates open and make sure I'm the first in.

Seatwave, only pay the seller 10 days after the concert has taken place to make sure that the tickets were genuine, but I'll be hacked off if I don't get in.

That is a good idea not to pay the seller until after the concert! Fingers crossed you get in. A friend of mine flew from the UK to Barcelona to see Pulp and she is planning on coming to see them at The Electric Picnic here in Ireland. I'll be there if I get a free ticket like I did for the festival last year smile

Luckily the e-ticket worked and they let me in, despite arriving at 4pm, hours after the gates opened. Only sad part is it's not a proper ticket, so not one to add to my collection. Rock 'n' Roll ain't what it used to be. Nor football, just have a card I wave at the turnstile nowadays.

Some tout has got Geldof tickets in row AA for Cadogen Hall on seatwave and viagogo (12 in total, 6 on each)...

I don't think anyone is going to fork out £80 a pop plus the, ahem, booking fee for them. Maybe I can make a cheeky offer of a fiver the night before. Good news for those in row BB though, as there will be no one sat in front!

Lots of cinemas these days are showing big events live in 3D like the recent Wimbledon final or sometimes opera from New York. Maybe people might be willing to go to a 3D showing of a concert as it is happening live. 3D cinema can be quite impressive, if a but headwrecking.

This might help with those who can't affort tickets or when all the tickets are bought up by touts.I know its a bit gimmicky but can't see why it would not work. Surely a good concert in 3D is worth a night out at the cinema instead of the usual rubbish films on show at most multiplexes. Transformers 3 is supposed to be really good as regards the 3D special effects but is nearly three hours long- should be half that lenght ideally.

I saw U23D a few years back and it was brilliant! Felt like I was at an actual concert! I think 3D concerts in a cinema are a great idea!

Whatever about 3D tv, on a huge cinema screen the 3D affect can be quite spectacular. Surely the recent Take That concerts would have sold many tickets for a 3D live simulcast in cinemas. I only say this as an option, but can't see why watching a concert in 3D live shouldn't work as well as filling out the cinema for the latest mediocre Hollywood dross.
