The only concert I have definitely decided to go to so far is Cheltenham in June. I hope to go to some more but so far have not decided. The one in Kent seems a good bet too though I am still a long way from bothering with tickets.
Has anyone made any definite early decisions. Plymouth seems a bit too close to Cheltenham date wise for me so the Wychwood in Cheltenham looks like the most suitable for me. Hope to get to spend some time in Cheltenham town and if there's a meet up all the better.
No decision yet. Prefer gigs to festivals. Rats are at their best at the moment in front of around 3000 with full set list. Hoping for a tour like last autumn. Would be great if a tour supported a new album.
If nothing happens, probably go to one of the last festivals.
I'm booked for all except Kent, but only because the Hop Farm website hasn't confirmed them yet. Will prob book on strength it's on Rats site before it's too late though, just in case day tickets sell out. Have to assume they're on of the 'special guests tbc'.
Any more word on that rumoured Rewind North appearance late August, somewhere up near Macclesfield? Might be one for Mark??
Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new.

Hop Farm not on Rats site now, Assume a non-starter
The Kent thing was Tweeted, see if I can glean any further info on this, by tweeting back. If I can find anything now and it's not disappeared off the radar!!
Capesthorne? Is that the Rewind 1980s up North? If so, I got it from Twitter, but heard no more about it and no further details. Might be disappearing off the radar as well???
Yes, can now see it on FB for February, says Boomtown Rats now added to Rewind North, but then nothing on the official Rewind site. So looks like they're only playing Rewind South and Scotland.

I'll prioritize all the ones where the Rats are the definite headliners, and will be playing a full set. Not much point in travelling over from Ireland for a half dozen songs!
Chagstock was a festival but we all got there a little before Billy Bragg was on stage, so it's all about timing in a way. I certainly would not want to spend much time hanging around watching the dregs of the eighties go through the motions. Most of the Rewind line ups are pretty dreadful and will be getting a wide berth from me at least. So much for 'be kind Rewind'
At the moment my festival dollar is up for grabs. Only plans for this summer is Franz Ferdinand at Somerset House and Arcade Fire at Earl's Court. Hoping for a Cork Marquee like gig this time around, as none of the festivals announced appeal either in location or line up.
Tring is a possible, as I have a room booked, but I can't pretend I am wildly enthusiastic about it.
As an aside, I can't believe Suss is doing all the dates again. I had tickets for two consecutive nights to see Franz Ferdinand at the weekend and didn't bother with the second night preferring to stay at home with pizza and Ant & Dec (sigh). After getting home on the last train on Friday after a very boozy evening and the prospect of repeating it again, it just seemed like a better option to stay in. Thing is come Sunday afternoon, I really wish I had gone....
Fair comment, wonder about my sanity at times myself. Always good to experience some new places I try to convince myself, and with these fleeting sets should be plenty of opportunity for that! Guess it's becoming a bit of a challenge now too, to keep up a run of gigs. Bizarre realisation is I've already seen the reunited band twice as many times as I ever saw them pre 86

in all forms, I have seen the rats eight times this century, but only twice in the previous one. In fact, last six times in less than twelve months. But not likely to repeat that. Amateur gig goer in comparison to the mighty SUSS!!!!
Is it me or has Guildfest disappeared off the Rats website today? Sure I saw it there yesterday. Was I dreaming?
Oh bl00dy great! Well if you were dreaming, so was I! Well I really hope it's not been canned - was really looking forward to a gig that would be easy for me to travel to, great timing, ie school inset day which would have made everything a whole lot easier. Should have known it was too good to be true God why does everybody hate me??
Guildford is being tweeted about again as having been confirmed. Neither this or Splendour Fest have appeared on Rats website yet. But there is still hope.

OK, well the Guilfest website says they are confirmed - but I find it strange that it's not on the Rats website, and was taken off - so perhaps someone in the know could confirm ...
I've been keeping a pretty close eye on Rats site, but I don't recall ever seeing Guilfest added. Can't have been for more than a day if it was.
Anyone 100% sure they saw it?
Even then it's not a failsafe. Hop Farm was on there for ages but not happening for them, and as festival never promoted with Rats I doubt any claim for refund possible. Luckily I held off on that one through nervousness the festival hadn't promoted them.
Splendourfest clearly advertising Rats so I'd hope any fall through would allow refunds for anyone who's bought, but all depends on interpretation of T&C - no refund 'in event of any supporting acts not appearing'. What's the definition of supporting?? I reckon it's any band on the bill, so basically you buy at risk.
Not ideal to have so much uncertainty when festivals charges so much for tickets in first place. Another good reason why headline appearances in proper gigs is a preference. Any cancellations there and it's money back no question.
Guess all we can do is continue to share any reliable info received.
Both Lisa and I saw the Guildfest one on Rats website. It was only there for one day. I don't think we could both be having funny moments at the same time . Or could we?
The uncertainty is worrying, I've lost my job so am not in a position to lose any money on tickets right now. Will be hi
Ding out until I'm sure. Even though they've advertised would we have any comeback? I imagine bands could pull out any time for any number of reasons. Unless the entire festival us pulled, there is still an event and we'd still have valid tickets to attend.

Yes absolutely 100% - that was why I posted with reference to the good news, I thought the info could be trusted, obviously wouldn't have posted if I'd been in doubt - but yes it was there just for a day ... It also appeared on facebook, and it also says on the Guilfest site that they were confirmed and in the local paper. So who to believe??
And I spotted it in the afternoon so definitely not having a "funny moment" - they usually occur after 1030pm after a few glasses of vino
But would be good to know one way or the other pretty soon - as I thought day tickets usually sold out quite quickly??
Rats are headlining Guilfest on the Friday night. This has suddenly gone up on my 'priority list', and is a lot easier to get to than say, Whitehaven or the one in the Yorkshire Dales. I'll certainly keep it in mind, though like most I don't have too much money to splash around. But when the Rats are top of the bill on a summers night it's hard to say no.

Does anyone know which ones they top the bill? Will they be on early in Tring in order to get to Cumbria? In some ways, that could be good for me as I could catch the train back.

They are headlining Tring on the Friday night. With such a rubbish line up I'd expect nothing less. Last train home- remember when Dodgy had us Staying Out For The Summer? Tempus fugit.
Maybe they will fly up north, as it seems like a long coach journey. Maybe Virgin trains to some of the stations in Cumbria? Bob sometimes travels to gigs on the train, though I've no idea about their travel arrangements really.

Late train (22:34) or first (04:03) . There are a couple of later trains but getting in London after tubes stop running is pointless as I'd spend a fortune on a cab. If Rats get off stage at around 10pm or just start playing the eponymous song I'd be home by midnight.
