One of those bottles lasts a long time in our house as, once emptied, they get re-filled with stuff out of the tap, and put in the fridge for consumption the next day.

I'm one of those Western parents just glad to see their kids drinking something uncoloured and unsweetened. I suspect I'm in a minority as most parents don't seem to give a toss if their kids have holes in their teeth ear to ear. (Sure, the NHS repairs the damage "free of charge" though the cost to the taxpayer could probably provide clean drinking water to a few nations in the developing world.)

As you can see I could talk myself in circles around this issue.

Well....maybe he isn't partaking in this campaign full-fledged (Melanie Reid just uses the one quote from him) but this is interesting. I've heard the argument too - why in the world would anyone buy something as simple as water, that you can easily get that is clean and free (in most areas)? Then it just depends on what's IN "tap" water versus bottled water.

So, bottled water being 'bollocks'...I get where he's coming from (I think)....personally I like the 'taste' of distilled water better so I buy it...in most cases it's usually just a determination of personal preference I guess.

I strongly agree with Bob on this point. I think bottled water is a good idea in areas where tap water is not drinkable (for various reasons). In Germany, the water works run a campaign that our water is the most controlled "food" there is, and that it's perfectly safe for drinking. Vittel, Evian and all the others want to make us believe their water is "better" than other water, which I guess is in most cases... Well, bollocks! Imagine the tons of plastic that is needed for the billions of bottles! Especially when there are so many people in the world who'd just be happy if they had water access AT ALL. Or if their village had water access.

My children drink apple juice with water, or just water. I'm glad they haven't discovered Coke etc yet!

What I do like though is fizzy water - do you know those machines that make tap water fizzy?

maybe the bottled water onstage is actually tap water.the indifferent we need to worry about is vince and his diet coke.he had a six pack (maybe 2) of it with him at hull.my m8 has the same problem

I agree with Bob. Come on peolple, why pay for something that can be got for free especially as there is places which have severe water shortages. If people don't like tap water do as I don't, get a water filter & put it in the fridge & have cold water any time I want..
