@Suss, Are you going?  If so, are you going to recreate the Someone's Looking cover?

You know me too well!!

Ashamed to admit that only last week I was on Google street view checking out har far along 'modern' Wall St I need to be to capture that view of the church no

Will do my best!

And if I meet anyone called Mick I'll be sure to say Hi.

p.s. Mondeo has gone to that place for tired old workhorses in the sky, or an auction possibly, and hopefully my new runaround will see us both home from Cambridge ok. Don't blame you for gambling 10p on the safe option though. Speak soon.

As it happens I just got a new car.  Well, got it for my wife, but think it's safest to let the train take the strain to Cambridge.  Besides, no way am I going south of the river at that time of night

Pretty sure NY is all language independent now. It says white palm, red palm, talk, don't talk, white palm, red palm etc.....doesn't scan as well does it? smile

Currently on a steel slug on slime en route to NY from Boston so will soon find out for sure. Forecast high 80s across both cities for next 3 days so no excuse not to have a beer or three. Hope it doesn't hit 90 degrees. I'd like to come home!

Didn't see one poster or promotion in Boston, even at venue, so numbers will be interesting. Personally I'd be happy if a few hundred only. Enough to create an atmosphere but still a chance of getting near front without waiting hours to keep a spot. Not sure promoters will agree, but then again maybe promoters is a misnomer given the above.

Will try to post a bit and maybe load any pics if I can.

Don't say on FB you'd be happy with only a couple of hundred. They'll slaughter you. They want this to be a success so they do a wider tour

It's the promoters they ought to berate, not me. Didn't one guy say on FB he heard by chance and hadn't seen a thing on streets or in usual places?

Be a shame if not as popular as it deserves, especially for long suffering US fans away from East Coast if no return visits spawn from this trip.

I'll try to estimate at both, but you may need to divide by two if the beers are flowing as planned biggrin

Why do they always end up with naff promoters?

I wouldn't worry about a few posters, the sort of people who would go  have probably never been near either venue in their lives.

The promoter has got interviews on the internet and a top notch support band (Ash) who could headline decent sized venues in their own right.  There is even an entry in Time Out NYC.

From this side of the pond it looks well promoted.

Fair enough...I always forget how influential interweb is these days. I'M so...20th century.

Obviously at home wouldn't find those links unless looking; be intrigued to see how popular gigs are and whether the locals of suitable vintage who, as you say, might not frequent the venues are more internet aware of promotion than I am.

I still think a few poster never does any harm, and make far more memorable souvenirs than printing off a web page smile

Interestingly with the poster thing, Difford & Tilbrook are playing a warm up date in Canary Wharf next month and I only knew of it cos I saw a poster in the Canary Wharf mall at lunchtime.  It isn't even on the Squeeze official site.

I suspect they are keeping it low key cos when the dates at Union Chapel in late November were announced they sold out instantly.   Those dates were published far and wide on the internet.

Lots of fantastic reports from lasting hot - well just a few hours ago. I think people are still buzzing/partying over there. They probably didn't know what hit them. Wonder if they did the usual set. I would imagine so. Can't wait for Butlins and the rest of the tour.

Not quite, but probably an hour on stage. Think it was Eva Braun, Like Clockwork, Neon Heart, Do You In, Someone's Looking at You, She's So Modern, Mondays, Mary, Looking After No 1, Rat Trap with an encore of Diamond Smiles, The Boomtown Rats.

Was pretty busy in there but ideal number a it felt full but with room to move. Maybe 800 including upstairs?? Mind you, did see that guest list on door ran to about 3 pages smile

Crowd seemed to really enjoy it. Some big fans there, some from early days, many from Mondays on, and a couple who said Up All Night hooked them.

My legs ache so either danced more than I thought or that walk from 30th to Wall St did for me. Walk? Don't walk! Subway next time.

Great pic Suss. But looking at the picture sleeve it seems that the shot was inverted?

And not surprisingly I will be going to Difford & Tilbrooks gig in York. Their shows did sell out almost instantly, but they are quite small intimate shows. They are talking about their songwriting and their relationship, so venues perfect.
I was listening to a Squeeze song the other day "I think I'm go go " and it  says "Down the disco it's clockwork time" I wonder if Difford was referring to Like Clockwork. It was written around that time.

I forgot Close As You'll ever Be, straight after Mondays. Same set in Boston.

Word is, unsurprisingly and I daresay necessarily, we can a couple of new tracks on the tour.

I reckon Don't Believe What You Read and as a leftfield suggestion Barefootin' .  I don't expect anything post Mondo, though I guess they could surprise us with Dave.

Do you think Bob would sing Dave live ever again? I can't imagine.

Up All Night might have made a good choice for the US shows,  seeing that it was a bit of an unofficial Rats success over there.

Sadly it's another example of a Rats song being still relevant and where the lyrics can be transposed to pertain to a more recent tragedy.

I bet one of the 'new tracks' is Keep it Up - seeing as it's included on 'So Modern'
