Having a clear out and came across a gig review from March '78. Half of it is unfortunately missing, but the reviewer talks of 'Clockwork' - emphasises the Rats' understanding of light and shade and then two other songs 'Blind Date' and 'Hospital World' which sounded pretty ordinary compared to 'Eva Braun' and 'Don't Believe what you read'. The reviewer says 'both still require a lot of work but as the stated intention of this tour is to bash songs for the second album into shape, that should quite easily be done.'

Other quotes from the review: 'So strange', 'It's all the rage' and 'the wonderfully happy new single She's so modern are all stunning'.

'Joey's on the street just gets better each time the band plays it'

'I'm so enthusiastic about all the unrecorded songs, I can't be bothered to dwell on the old stuff'

The intriguing thing for me is what became of 'Hospital World' - what can the reviewer be referring to?! Is it the 'It's my world' song that morphed into 'Do they know'?

Can it not be taken out of mothballs for the new album?

How Do You Do? might be Hospital World. Could even be Howard Hughes.

Could be a case of misheard lyrics.Hospital World seems a bit clumsy for a song title. But around the time Bob was complaining 'Everybody I know wants to knock me down...' (All The Rage)

You're probably right.

Ben Folds Five did a song by this title though.

Staff at the Duke Street Psychiatric Hospital in Glasgow wanted Diamond Smiles banned for being obscene and in bad taste.  Under the headline 'Gutter Rats' the local paper said Charge Nurse Jim and his colleagues had petitioned the IBA and BBC to get the record banned.

Could have been a mishearing of 'hospital ward'?

My money's on, "Watch out for the hospital ward | there's more of us than there's of you..."

"Hospital ward, you meet in corners. Take a jump into the unknown"

Makes sense to me

Could even be Can't Stop. The lyrics are in the right ballpark...

"Hospital ward, cure me quick, Hospital ward, I feel sick, Hospital ward, what's that pain? Hospital ward, here it comes again"
