Reason I ask is there seem to be so many 'promos' out there now, all suspiciously in same format, i.e. plastic sleeve containing a one piece 'cover' with easily reproduced artwork and simple font track listings.
Are Universal actually producing any promo material? If so, for what, and WHY in CD format??
I've also never seen any album that lists and orders tracks alphabetically.
No reason to doubt the seller integrity; I'm just not convinced there are genuine promos out there.
Basically I just wanted to highlight there are too many cheap 'bootlegs' out there we could make ourselves. Hopefully someone can intervene to stop the activity.
I got a 'promo' which allegedly had tracks re-ordered; was just a straight copy of Rat****s. Didn't bother with refund, just gave low eBay seller feedback.
... there are too many cheap 'bootlegs' out there we could make ourselves.
like So Modern...
There aren't many new demo CDs as most music is distributed via a website (which I haven't cracked ) for magazine review and radio station previews. There are the odd promos sent to ad-hoc reviewers but they tend to be very plain like these, often with just a paper print stuck on the CD.
The S.A.D Too CD is one of the more interesting ones though rendered redundant with the Anthology release.
Given the ease of reproducing a CD they are rarely rare.
I see this has ended. There was one bid on it. Was it someone here who bought it?
Amazed people buy this sort of thing. It's the modern equivalent of the tapes/CDs they used to flog down the market. Seemed like a good deal until the tape snapped/wore out. The only CD I ever got as Bryan Adams which someone gave to me. Don't know why. To be fair the CD was pretty good as it was a direct copy, and is even recognised by freedb!
You could make the same thing by downloads/streaming/copying without too much hassle so why pay £3? Hell you can even get So Modern for that, all proper and legit.
As an aside, I did get the US Mondo LP on eBay which was less than a fiver in an auction today. Will be interesting to hear the original Up All Night on vinyl.
It is great it I think they were issued to universal reps in 005 to promote remastering of rats albums couldn't get one of rep at Tim so pleased to grit no
Arrgee already thinks you're amazing so what better welcome to the forum can you get than that, eh Mike? !
You're not going to try to sell us a kitchen are you?
You're all amazing! Fcuking nutters, but amazing fcuking nutters.
I suppose it's feasible they were given to reps in 2005 and are "genuine", but given I have my fcuk off 90 track MP3 CD no way am I tracking it down. Nor unintentionally ordering it (like So Modern). One click is very dangerous. I accidentally got Firework by Katy Perry on my phone. Yes it was an accident...
As an aside, the US Mondo pressing is far better than the UK one, and despite the loss of Fall Down, I am thinking it's not such a bad LP after all. If only I could skip Another Piece of Red...
I only saw it when rep had one but the art work looks the same at time rep said they (universal)were remastering albums and were giving reps a copy. I assume to. Push the albums
Jules the original the rep had had a sticker outside something like universal specalprojects Altyouth This one has not but there is residue as f one were there
