Just a wee something my son got made for me for xmas. And yes he did pay more than £3 for this singed cd at the oxford gig
That is indeed a fine Christmas present - your son seems a very creative lad putting real thought and effort into gifts for his dad. Wish I had one more like him!

Speaking of Christmas presents. I got a walkman for dads...
It's great except for the fact that the adaptor is so bl00dy big and won't fit in the case.

I need a record player to unlock the unused vinyl. Been thinking about the Teac lpr 500 which would also allow me to record from tape or vinyl to cd - anyone own or have any views on it? Amazon reviews generally positive but I always focus on the minority of negative ones and assume I'll be left in a position to write one.

IMHO this isn't the turntable I would use to make copies. Looking at the platter, you will probably find the TEAC is a bit unstable to make good recordings.
The Project Elemental USB Turntable would be my choice as a budget turntable. I have the Project Genie (old version) which is an amazing turntable for the money. I played an LP on the Crosley and then on the Project and there was a world of difference.

Should you happen to read The Times, today's issue (27 Jan 2015) has the Project Elemental and The Crosley as two of their four best turntables. Their other two were the Linn @ £1,635 and the McIntosh @£11,495. In comparison, the Project Elemental can be found for less than £160. Bargain.
Sadly Times is subscription only, so this link only summarises...
