Due to unforeseen circumstances Dorking, Port Talbot and Clacton have been cancelled.
Gutted
Or in other words, nobody could be bothered to turn up!
A little harsh, a few people were bothered enough to travel to these outposts. but there wasn't enough local interest to make it worthwhile. Geldof should do some intimate solo shows (up to 400/500) in bigger cities/towns. Even if I had decided to see him (unlikely, but it has happened before), getting home from Dorking or Clacton would have kicked the idea into touch. He should play Cadogan Hall again, that was pretty successful.

Yeah maybe a bit harsh I know. I have memories years ago, think it was the Happy Club tour when many gigs were cancelled including Portsmouth Guildhall where I was reliably informed by the box office only 30 tickets had been sold!
Expecting a phone call from Dorking today then, will see if they can give me any reason for the cancellation.

What makes you know for certain you were 'reliably' informed only 30 tickets were sold? Might it not be somebody was just messing? I think a lot of this '45' turned up etc is just press prattle designed to wind Bob up. Solo gigs were /are less well attended compared to Boomtown Rats gigs but the press rarely let the truth get in the way of a good anti-Bob story. Boo Town Rats being the latest example in the Sun, whereas I'd take Suss's account over theirs any day of the week.

You should ask Jules about the 45. She was one of them. Anyway there was a reasonably good outcome to that with Geldof doing an MTV show in Italy which wouldn't have happened otherwise. That way even I got to see him play in Italy.

You prove my point. Like Suss, if Jules told me, I'd regard myself as having been 'reliably informed'. Until then, I'm content to regard most of it as press prattle.

The thing is just 45 people did turn up for that gig, and a lot of the tickets were comps. That's not press prattle.
I don't really want to go over old ground, but can I make it 100% clear I didn't sabotage that Milan gig on 23rd July 2006.
Maybe there were only 45, maybe not. If you read what I said again, you will see I said 'a lot of this' is press prattle. Because it is.
I seem to recall another press prattle piece saying around 75 fans were shouting 'crook' outside Bob's hotel in Milan? Was that the original 45 plus 30 that fancied a pizza the action? !

Box office at Portsmouth Guildhall told me he only sold 30 tickets.
Extremely. I will ring them when I get home on Thursday. See if they will do it another way.
Port Talbot say you need to call them. Have emailed Clacton to find out.
Jules, had a letter from them today saying its cancelled and they will either refund you fully or give you a credit voucher. You have to ring them to arrange. Unfortunately it will be a cheque as you said.

Where did you read that?
Can't recall after 9 years. Not minded to commit to memory when probably more press prattle. Whether it's Ethiopia cash missing, 45 turned up, resurrect career with Live Aid, drove Hutchence to death etc etc, I tend to try to filter much of it out.
Jules - did you see people chanting and how many would you say?
Just had a phone call from Dorking, apologising for taking so long to get back to me. They've a lot of people to contact. £46 is being refunded into my account, not a cheque. I assume that includes fees.
EXCLUSIVE - How the fcuk do they consider that exclusive? It was on here five days ago. Who is the insider? Hardly credible to quote an anonymous source. Incredible how they fill a third of a page with such irrelevance.
Geldof cancelling gigs is hardly news, is it? Tale of the expected as far as I'm concerned.
That's because they did not sell out the venues. Bob has to hold his hands up here and understand that it's the Rats that are popular at selling out venues. Which in my opinion is good to see Just shows you how good they really are together

That's a matter of opinion. I don't think this is bad news, they are just pointing out that He is better when playing Rats gigs (They sell out)

Opinion? It's a fact; the story wasn't exclusive. I can see the date on Jules post. Mon Aug 24.
I don't think they/he are/is pointing out anything in particular. Geldof has had gigs continually cancelled for the last 25 years. Not much of an exclusive.
Press prattle again. They're always talking of insiders and source says this, says that. They're also recycling the Boo Town Rats story which as Suss has already indicated is press prattle. Take no notice.

They do say the info was from fan web So looks like Jules needs to be asking for a payout
No refund of fees from Clacton. Apparently because it is an agent and not down to them they don't refund them and it's written it terms and conditions. 😡. £6.20 for absolutely nowt. I even printed my own tickets.
