Glad to see he is going back to his roots. The music world would be a sad place without him. The trouble is he cant  lose the "punk" tag and people wont  give his solo music a chance. I am trying to do my bit and have sent a demo to my local radio station, who have promised to listen to it. We will see what happens, probably nothing, but I dont give up easily.

What a great idea Scottie, let us know how you get on. My local stations wouldn't play his music. They play the worst chart stuff most of the time!

I bet he's a great Dad... and his house must be a mad house.

It must rock to have bob as a dad.pretty much on a par with hugh laurie.his son charlie seems to be givem free gifts every time hugh does an interview, including signed guitars!

anyway i'm glad to hear bob agree's that the music world would be sad without him.i have to admit i still see him as punk and even his solo stuff as mild folk punk.i have a fetish with folk punk

Although he's famed for his work as a humanitarian and political lobbyist, Sir Bob Geldof still thinks his greatest talent is playing music.

"I know the rest of the world may disagree with me, but it's the one thing I do the best. I mean, f--- the world," Geldof told S, laughing.

"It's also the one thing that soothes me."

When Geldof says this sort of thing, I have to laugh as well.  If he made records it would be possible to tell how good he is. This is the guy who has made one record in 13 years and cancels gigs on a whim.  Hell, Geldof would hardly know if he's any good anymore.  No wonder people won't give his solo music a chance (me included), he hasn't made much!  Prolific, he ain't.

At least he thinks he is good at it.

He is a better musician than some new ones, but not so good as those legendary musicians.

Well, I like his music especially his solo work.

Whatever your views, lets hope that 2006 will see Bob starting to come out of his wilderness years and that we will see some more songwriting and recording. I hope so. I personally like his solo stuff. I was never a huge Rats fan, (sorry Arr Gee). He still gives a hell of a live performance though! I know I was one of the lucky ones to see a show which was not cancelled. He still has lots to give as a songwriter and singer. Time for more music, less campaigning, less business activities, before it is too late.

I like the rats stuff too, but I first heardand fell in love with Bob's solo songs.

I hope too that Bob will write and record new songs. I heard he is planning to record a new album.

And I hope he will come to Hungary this year.

What do you mean too late? There are plenty of years left in our Bob yet. I like both the Rats & solo & would find it hard to pick between mondays & night turns to day as they are equally my two favourite songs. When Bob played Vicar st last year he was sick but still sounded brilliant..

Well I think Bob has a lot of time left. His father is 91 and still he could travel to Croatia on his own. Probably Bob will live till 2025 or even 2035 and still will be able to play concerts.

Let's hope he slows down a bit and does not burn himself out before then. Remember how exhausted he was in the summer. Iwould like nothing better than to see his music career take off again.

He also deserves a bit of fun while he's about it. And we know how he loves his music
