Stumbled across this RTE snippet which you might find interesting.

'Gorgeously-attired'. I think the viewers will be the judge of that.

Love it 'quite a few elderly ladies and they thought the Rats were lovely'. Hilarious reporting.

That must have been Pete's 1st wife. He's married to an Italian lady now.

Yes, first wife. She was in an American band and met Pete after it relocated to London.

Hailing from Akron, Ohio, Jane Aire (née Ashley) was discovered by Liam Sternberg, who played in the first incarnation of the Belvederes.  Sternberg included some recordings of her on the compilation, Stiff Records Presents Akron, which led to her move to London.  There, The Edge become the Belvederes, and they recorded just one album for Virgin before being dropped.

After marrying Pete Briquette in 1980, she assembled a new Belvederes in 1981, including Paul Cutler (guitar), Ian Curnon (keyboards), Sam Hartley (bass), her brother Dave Ashley (drums) and Ian Ritchie (saxophone). Last single was in 1982.

Chrissie Hynde also hails from the same US town.
